if you were to do that right now between East/West teams, you would still get an even split of 8 East and 8 West teams for the Top 16 Seeds...

if I’m not mistaken the East teams are playing more East teams than West during the year

something about the distance, travels etc

Yea that's because East is playing more East teams than West. I just don't see any team in the East being a threat to like the top 6 teams out West rn in a 7 game series.
