nopeeeeee

if KAT gets a ring in the next 10 seasons, we can start to have that converation. Otherwise, nahhhhhh
What does shooting have to do with rings?:kaidowhat:
Dirk: Career 38% 3pt shooter
KAT: Career 40% 3pt shooter
Dirk: 5 seasons out of 21 total seasons shooting the ball over 40% from 3pt
KAT: 4 seasons out of 7 seasons shooting the ball over 40% from 3pt
But wait, it gets better, KAT shot 41% from 3 on 8 attempts per game in 2019-2020, and shot 39% from 3 on 6 attempts per game in 2020-2021. Dirk never had a single season where he shot over 5 attempts per game from 3.
So not only is KAT a better career 3pt shooter than Dirk, but he’s done so on significantly higher volume.

when KAT gets to the playoffs more than 1 time in his career or even reaches the Finals, then I'll start to take his shooting stats more seriously since he's in an era where 3 point shooting is much more prevalent and encouraged (35.2 attempts in 2021-22 compared to 13.7 in 1998-99 when Dirk made his debut). And 'greatest shooting big' doesn't just refer to only 3-pointers that you've cited (a 2% difference nonetheless), Dirk was pretty much unguardable on the block/post/midrange and spent most of his time there destroying the opposing defense (guys like KD, Melo, LeBron using variations of his fadeaway shot isn't a product of coincidence)

At this point of his career, what KAT has put up so far has been nothing more than empty stats, where he's made the playoffs once in 7 seasons whereas Dirk has made it in 15 of 21 seasons (14 more years than KAT atm). But if Edwards gets even better in the next few years he might finally have another real star to play with that wasn't Jimmy Butler and he'll have a chance down the line to be in more playoffs seasons.

We’re not talking about the better player just the better shooter is ray allen a better shooter than MJ despite not being as good as MJ? Yes or no.

Kat also has a higher true shooting percentage and a higher percentage from 2

if you're referring to 3 Point Shooters, Ray Allen is obviously better than MJ (FTs as well). But like I mentioned for Dirk earlier, MJ is definitely the superior 'shooter' if you also account for midrange shots which would be a HOF by itself without MJ's other skills

If you are looking at just purely 3 point shooting, Kat is better. Significant percentage and volume advantage.

Dirk on the other hand is on the shotlist for GOAT midrange. His 3s were great for bigs at that point in time but his bread and butter was his mid range.

I think issue is people have different definition of “shooter”. Alot of people focus on 3 point shooting because its just simpler. its hard to kind of take into account both midrange shooting and 3s because theres a bit of different skillset in terms of getting into your spot, making space etc. Kawhi for example is another guy that is really fuxing good at midrange with a good 3 point shot

Wtf is play in for, it looks unfair to 7th & 8th seed
The W-L gap between 7th to 10th seed is too far
to prevent teams from purposedly tanking and to give lower seeds a chance to make the playoffs (Memphis last season as the 9th Seed)

The thing is KAT might be the most skilled scoring big ever. It's also hard for me to say he's already the best shooting big ever with Dirk's longevity and accolades but the stats don't lie so far. I wouldn't be surprised if people in 15 years say he's the best shooting big ever even if he never matches Dirk's success.

hes up there but dont think i would give him that title. Even considering only this era, Jokic and Embiid is around. Then besides Dirk historically theres guys like Hakeem, Kareem who aren’t 3 level scorers like the modern guys but I don’t know if you should ding them for that considering the era they played in.

But regardless Kat is still young and he has plenty of time to get the accolades. Dirk was considered a choker until that 2011 run for example. I also don’t think Kats offensive numbers are empty stats or anything like that. The problem with Minny for most of the time that Kat is there wasn’t the offense but their defense. Which is funny because I remember when the hype for Kat when he was in the draft was more for his defensive potential than his offense. Then when he got into the league he turned out to be an offensive beast and an average defender.

So DBook for MVP or nah?
Tatum

idk anymore the mvp narrative changed every year nowadays. Used to have to be a guy on a top team but then that westbrook mvp basically threw that out the window. Jokics the best player in the league this year though :jordanmf:

As much as I want Tatum to be in the convo D Book has been the better player this year, though I do agree Jokic is by far the best

Candidate but nah. Best team but numbers not quite at the level of the others. Plus, Jokic & Embiid with the narrative of their 2nd best player being out of the season but their team is close to top 5 (Jokic) or top 1 (Embiid).

To me, I think he is. He's basically a cheatcode create-a-player C with 99 speed & shooting. He's getting defended by 4s because centers can't keep up with him and he can just bully them in the post. I'm def. not saying he's a better player than any of them because of what you said but he's so ridiculous when he's on. The hope is that Minny can do something in the playoffs 'cause I don't think people know how great he really is 'cause he plays in Minnesota and his teams have sucked for a long time.

I get the hype as well. I also remember he got b2b years of #1 for "player to start a franchise with" in that NBA GM survey. They saw the offense but not the defense lol

welp University of Houston just went 1/20 from 3 in the Elite 8. Houston has a real curse shooting 3s in playoff games rn

damn you think so? Tatum started off the season pretty bad but their numbers are pretty sumilar (if anything Tatums may have a slight advantage). Tatum also brings more on the defensive end.

what bookers done while CP3s been out is impressive though. Problem is idk if I rate him as a top 10 player

oh i think out of the jokic, embiid, kat trio, Kat is definitely the best in the perimeter (he legit shoots and move like a guard out there) but Jokic and Embiid is more dominant in the post/mid range so theres a trade off there so I cant definitively call him the best scorer. Jokic for example scores more and is more efficient (but its really hard to grade jokic as just a scorer, he has the lebron issue where hes such a dual threat that I think his scoring get underrated a little)

but yeah i hope minny make some noise
