not really, age of consent in the US is around 18 (16 in Oklahoma but the girl he dated lives in California). Also Giddey himself is 21 and NOT 19, so the gap in age between the 2 (reports saying she is 15) is why it's an issue as well as the fact that she's still in high school when he courted her
admittedly many of these cases were covered up in the past (see Karl Malone in the 1980s/1990s) but there was also no social media to spread the word so there's no excuse for it to happen in this time and day
OKC may see this as an opportunity to move him (if he is indeed suspended by the NBA), and they also wouldn't have to sign him to a new contract once his rookie deal finishes out
