It's not her specifically (though I can't speak for other ppl)
I just hated that the time she was being pushed as a candidate, there was such a lack of actual new crew candidates that ppl were jumping through hoops to make their arguments work
Including regurgitating what youtubers were saying about marketing as a reason to have her on the crew
I admit her chemistry with the crew make her fit in really well and if her story was better done I would've been all for her joining (hell i even have her on my FanFic crew) but as it stands just like I couldn't see her abandoning such an important position in Zou to join Luffy
(don't say She already did, she left on a mission for Zou and was with Pedro, its not the same as fully joining)
Especially now that she's been named the next Ruler

Yeah, I think of all the “candidates“, for lack of a better word, there‘s never been a more popular one with such a huge disconnect between what the story was showing and what fans were swearing blind would happen.
It wasn’t so much people saying they wanted Carrot to join (which would be fine y’know, if you like her you like her). It was the made insistence that she was so very clearly being written as a future Strawhat when she was blatantly just an increasingly irrelevant side character. At least with Yamato and Loki the actual story is making us discuss whether they would be Strawhats.
I’ll never forget Jinbei vs Carrot in WCI lmao, people genuinely tried to argue that Carrot had more of a relationship with Luffy than Jinbei and that the conclusion to the FI fights being Luffy asking Jinbei to join the crew meant nothing.
