Bonney sounds like a fun join but I feel like people are jumping the gun again. We know Oda's capable of rug pulls and has done it before, so I just wanna make sure that no one jumps too fast onto a ship that can potentially sink

I feel like people tend to forget that Bonney is one of the most infamous pirate captains in the world. The supernovas are a huge deal, and one of them joining Luffy is front page global news in the One Piece world. Bonney is not underqualified, not too young, not too weak. She's not going to be a damn apprentice. Even vice captain is more suitable for her than apprentice.

Since Bonney is 12, and can join the crew, Luffy would basically be dealing with a child. That’s if Bonney reveals to them that she is 12. I doubt everyone in the crew would be okay with her joining without someone to take care of her when/if she tells them her real age. This is like if kid Momonosuke just joined by himself without Kinemon.

I mean, Luffy straight up said he had no issues with a child joining just last arc to Tama. You can say that's Luffy being nice and not wanting to tell her no... but Luffy don't got that kinda subtlety in his body.

Jinbei was a Captain
Franky was a Gang Leader

You can write Brooke off cause his crew is dead, sure. But those other two had active crews who cared for and loved them. And they still showed up.

And are we gonna pretend like a WARLORD captain is in some way different in importance level to a Supernova Captain?

If you're not on the Bonney joining train, then sure. But these aren't the arguments to make.

Yeah, the most likely outcome is that no one will join again, especially after the Yamato disaster. But it's still fun to talk about a potential next Nakama, even though he/she may never make it onto the Sunny

Basically this. After Yamato, no one should be betting too hard on any character regardless of how good their case is, but I put Bonney at 50/50 as well now. I was more like 40/60 before. Though I would argue her age is actually a pro, and not having a defined dream or role is a con.

I think if I had to pick I would still say no, she won’t join and she’s the arc princess.

(Total aside, but really, the arc princess role existed well before Vivi and Coby really was the first one. Even Zoro has been an “arc princess.”)

But she’s definitely worth talking about, and that’s a vast improvement over the state of this conversation for a long time. Even Yamato, Yamato was someone we were almost forced by Oda to talk about because she kept saying she’d be coming with the crew. I think Bonney is a more natural conversation.

To be fair not every SH has haki either, so we can't hold it against her especially with her young age. And even without haki her fruit is damn powerful and could prove useful which is why I'd like to see more of her myself, I just would prefer for her and Kuma to have a happy ending
