I really like how Oda writes his 'manly and badass ' type of characters. Less stoic and more emotive, crying ,showing when they're in pain etc.

Every other show would make a huge deal about a warrior not showing weakness etc ,meanwhile Oda has them scream bloody murder a cry like babies, while still being absolute badasses.
He can't( or doesn't care about ) writing women like actual people but makes up for it through how he explores the facets of manliness. Most obvious example is probably the guy in speedos and the plus sized guy in a baby costume having a honorable one on one. His epitome of manliness ,Oden, is developmentally challenged and dances like a fucking idiot thinking it keeps a fucking dictator at bay.

The page was also posted in 2018, before Jinbei was confirmed to join, so the nine people explicitly doesn’t include him.
Luffy also isn’t Strawhat zero, he’s Strawhat 1. In that page you’ve posted you can see in the picture of the concept crew the numbers, Luffy’s 1, Zoro’s 2, Sanji‘s easy to see as 5, and we can see Brook was originally meant to be 8 and Franky 9.
Jinbei completes Oda’s original plan for a ten person crew. If anyone else comes in, it’s not something Oda planned for back in 1997.
