Who will be the Next Strawhat?

Not gonna lie, the way Luffy is being treated as Nika himself and not just someone with the Nika fruit is making me believe in Bonney again just a little bit. If Oda can throw Yamato joining in our face for two years and then yank it away at the last second for no reason, he can think of a dumbass reason for Kuma to send Bonney with the strawhats even if he survives. "You can't become an indomitable pirate with your dad protecting you the whole time, and besides, I need a long time to recover " or some shit like that.

I can't describe it factually, but part of me just feels Kuma is made for the Revolutionaries and Bonney is made to sail with the Straw Hats.

The biggest reason I could say is PTSD. While piracy is dangerous, fighting a war is completely different.

If Bonney joined the Revs and Kuma survived, he'd spend all his time worried she'd suffer Ginny's fate.

Fuck trusting Dragon with anymore of Kuma's life, dude has failed every fucking time.

If Kuma still wants to work with the Revs after this, I believe he'll entrust Bonney to Nika, and ask Nika to show her the world, while helping free it.

Kuma's a Revolutionary, Bonney's a Pirate. Kuma will join the Revolutionaries, Bonney will join a Pirate Crew. I think Bonney and Kuma will go on a big trip EOS once the Red Line is destroyed and sailing around the world is a lot easier.
Wasn't Bonney's whole goal of becoming a pirate was to find her dad and sail the world with him? Why would they separate if he lives?

I do agree that Bonney becoming a Rev is a terrible idea after what happened with Ginny however.

That dream isn't possible right now.

If they escape, and Kuma regains his consciousness and memories, both Kuma and Bonney will be wanted for:
-Attacking a Gorosei, which is pretty much the worst crime in the world
-Bonney controlling the Pacifista

It's not like they can go vacationing right now, Kuma and Bonney's wanted posters will be all over the world. It's like when people say Vivi is just going to go back to Alabasta; like, no, she'd get arrested and sent to Imu within a week, the WG has agents everywhere.

If Kuma and Bonney survive Egghead and tried to sail the world and explore it together, they'd get captured very quickly.

They need to change the world before they can experience their dream, I believe.

Hard to get captured when you have an army of pacifistas at your side.

The issue is that they stop following her orders if she faints.

And Bonney faints at the sight of bugs.

Other than that, if she gets out of here with the Pacifista, then, yeah, she'd be in a really great position.

Either way, my point remains. Does having to walk around with a bunch of terminators everywhere you go sound like a fun trip to you? There's no way Kuma and Bonney can explore the world the way they want to as highly wanted criminals. Until they are "free", they can't have their family trip, IMO. They'd still be running and hiding.

I want Kuma and Bonney to have a trip where they AREN'T wanted criminals.

They don’t stop listening to her, they just accept other orders and unless the marines hand a control chip to all of the marines, that won’t matter

How about Kuma, Bonney, the Pacifistas and Vegapunk do their own thing? If there is a possibility that Kuma can regain his mind, then the one to do it is Vegapunk. And maybe they don't need to flee Egghead at the end of the arc anymore, because Luffy will beat Kizaru. So, they could stay there... .:kayneshrug:

Kuma already kicked the bucket tho. He is not moving anymore, that is a very very clear foreshadowing of him being dead.
kuma not dead,

he was raising his arm in defense to bonney against kizaru

also he listening/still there

as his head moves in realization to vega punk words on luffy being nika.

kuma never gave into death, or he would not be here

like his father told kuma, never take easy road and die.. live and endure..

the fact kuma endured and still fighting death/and conscious shows he fighting.

with giants coming, kuma father words of "nika saving him and taking him to sea with him"

clear indication once kuma fix he gonna be with luffy, along with bonney.

also kuma once fixed is really strong crew member, in the upcoming elbaf arc with giants. he still needs to learn more about his people. elbaf probably being where he learns more of nika legend and buccaneers. etc

Kuma missed his chance to die when Vegapunk refused to put a bomb in him.

Anyone still on the "Kuma's totally dying guys" train after that is hard coping.
Another, more meta reason is that Nika is all about freeing people and bringing them joy.
Going from that, this arc should end on a happy note from Bonney now that she finally found Nika. This can't be happening with Kuma gone as her entire goal in life is to save him.

If Kuma died now it would be a very strange event indeed.
I had my Kuma death coin all invested, I believe he was a tragic character, but to be frank, having him die would have been just torture porn.
I wish Vegapunk was dead now though.
That would be appropriate, retaliation for dealing with WG and having a grey morality is going has to pay back.
Very weird that he survived that. Vegapunk definitely should have died this chapter. Oda really has no balls.

I still can see Kuma dying tbh, he achieved his goal in saving Bonney and haven't really moved since...

Although it could be that both VP and Kuma survive this, and VP finds a way to reverse the damage he's done, everyone stays happy and I feel dumb for ever trusting Oda with death flags.

Kuma is definitely making it out with Bonney because she's going to be leading an army of pacifistas. It doesn't make sense if she doesn't have the real Kuma with her. Her goal now will be to restore Kuma's personality.

Vegapunk however should probably die. Oda has a built-in way to both continue to include Vegapunk in the story and also kill him off with the satellites.
