loki and bonney didn't ask to join.
luffy dragging them along lol bonney of course under luffy protection because of the kuma bots, and she has control of them. so wg want her dead. oda had bonney loose her crew, also showed us she can de age people. Then we got loki a giant, who prob has no df and lied like a true troll. Bonney solved luffy request of loki joing by shrinking him to kid size while there on the sh ship.
oda has build up bonney coming before loki was revealed.
also i am getting luffy admire loki as big bro. similar to ace. where luffy tried to impress his big brother. even with older brother trying to kill luffy, similar to loki first goal to get rid of luffy.
A nakama joining the crew is a mixture of foreshadowed needs/wants.
- Zoro joining was foreshadowed by Koby peaking Luffy's interest.
- Nami joining was foreshadowed by Luffy and Zoro needing a navigator.
- Usopp joining was foreshadowed by Luffy knowing Yasopp, Ussop's dad and Shanks crewmate.
- Sanji joining was foreshadowed by the crew needing a cook.
- Chopper joining was foreshadowed by Nami and the crew needing a doctor.
- Robin joining was an anomaly in the typical foreshadowing. Nami wore Robin's clothes in Loguetown. Robin was secretly helping the crew on their travel to Alabasta. Robin being able to read the Ponegliff in Alabasta was foreshadowing of her importance to the overall story, mainly finding the One Piece.
- Franky joining was foreshadowed by Merry needing a shipwright for repairs and Luffy's ridiculous drawing.
- Brook joining was foreshadowed by Luffy wanting a musician, connection with Laboon, and loving afros.
- Jinbe joining was foreshadowed by Yosaku in East Blue. Jesus Burgess was introduced as a helmsman. Jinbe has a connection with Ace, Luffy's brother. Jinbe is shown steering a ship from Impel Down to Marineford. Luffy formally invites Jinbe after they become blood brothers. Jinbe declines until he takes care of his arrangement with Big Mom which he does in dramatic fashion in front of Luffy.
- Luffy invited Gaimon but he declined. No role to fulfill.
- Luffy invited Zeff but he declined. Zeff's pupil came instead.
- Luffy invited Crocus but he declined. Crocus wanted the obligation to stay with Laboon.
- Luffy invited Vivi but she declined to remain a princess out of obligation.
- Luffy invited a zombie unicorn and zombie tree. Clearly a gag.
- Luffy invited Kin'emon's legs. A gag as Luffy never followed up asking Kin'emon when whole.
- Luffy invited a jaguar centaur. A gag as the centaur was an enemy. Or foreshadowing to Pedro, a jaguar Mink.
- Luffy likely would have invited Kyros if Kyros did not have an obligation to his daughter, Rebecca.
- Luffy likely would have invited Raizo if Raizo did not gag break Luffy's perception of what a ninja should look and act like.
- Tama asked to join. Luffy declined until she became a bewitching kunoichi, like Ace.
- Yamato asked to join. Luffy showed no interest until the end of the Wano arc where Yamato declined to follow Oden's steps traveling Wano.
luffy asking the other giants if loki good, is not a gag. luffy 100% has good judge of character for others. there was nothing funny about it.
he even stated elbaf does not want loki. and luffy says he will take loki with him, even the gag of luffy saying he beat up loki if he miss behaves. clearly showing luffy taking responsibility for someone he wants.
the closest foreshadowing to loki is the logo to one piece, with the giant skull pulling luffy with sh on there head.

I actually wonder about this.. even has the chin hair. the eyes are darkened. though seen franky. the thing is more slimmer and taller.

yeah oda going out of his way to show luffy intrest in loki from the start of elbaf to wanting loki to join.
the only delusional are the deniers.
luffy already tried to feed loki, like he part of his crew, even spilling the food on loki.
luffy don't feed random strangers.
the only one he shared food with are the one who join like nami etc. Loki i feel more of Ace similarity. with the way luffy behave with him.

The giant strawhat does not directly connect with Loki.
Loki is way taller than 5 meters tall.
The gag was the invite hence Zoro's and Sanji's reactions.
