You can argue Pica looked like a clown, Kaku looked like a clown, Hachi was kinda funny as well, specially his design (similar to Pica's)

But i agree that Sanji's opponents are usually people with over the top personalities, consequently they may end up looking weird and funny, i just don't think this is the big deal you want to make it look like

I just don’t see the point in Oda going for swordsman vs swordsman, marksman vs marksman, and doctor vs doctor (since almost everyone agrees that Zoro, Usopp, and Chopper will fight those 3), but not stay consistent and go for navigator vs navigator, helmsman vs helmsman, etc

Because those three are the only three where their role and their fighting style goes perfectly Hand in Hand. The fights can relate to their character Without being about their role.

Jinbe and Burgess aren’t going to be racing their ships as a fight, but Usopp and Van Augur will be trying to outsnipe one another.

Namis climatact has become more akin to magic and sorcery than to navigation so I don’t see her fighting a fellow navigator as the fight wouldn’t push her skill as a navigator, but fighting Pizarro would test her skill as a thief as he endows himself with fine objects and jewels and even seems to wear gauntlets Possibly related to his strength

Sanjuan doesn’t seem to be a Shipwright, but he himself is a battleship so the ship Franky built will fight with him in order to take down the enemy battleship proving his skill as a shipwright through the power of Sunny.

Sanji's BP opponent would be either Pizarro or Lafitte. Pizarro is a king and have North Blue origin. And plus, he was the only one who doesn't wear a standard Impel Down prisoner clothes along with Shiryu. And he was confident enough to say that he can take over Blackbeard Pirates. Sanji have his own Twirly Hats and North Blue origin as a prince.

Lafitte seems to be a Observation haki specialist as he infiltrated Mariejois without anybody noticing. Even Mihawk didn't notice he was there. He have the "Demon Sheriff" epithet and Sanji is the devil. And he got paired up with Shiryu when they got first appeared post-timeskip. These two looks like beasts so I'm cool with either one fighting Sanji.

Biggest fandom misconception is actually believing Jabura was the "gag cp9" when even Usopp was mocking Kaku's squared giraffe.

I'd say giving the biggest villain crew of the story someone who already has friendly ties with the Strawhats isn't a great idea. Gin would no doubt become an ally in the end, and we don't need villains becoming friends every time, especially not in this predictable way.

I think it is more likely that Blackbeard has a spy somewhere else who is that 10th Captain.
We've had that a lot Post-Timeskip with Vergo in the marines, Stussy in the underworld, X Drake in the Beast Pirates, Denjiro under Orochi etc, so it would fit that someone who plans ahead of time like Blackbeard does the same.

Someone in Shanks' crew would be the most epic reveal I could think of, especially when it's time for a direct confrontation between the crews.
The revolutionaries would be cool but make no sense bc then they wouldn't need Burgess to know about their base in Baltigo.
Big Mom's crew... Smoothie would be a funny reveal that she intentionally acts so useless because she's with someone else.

But my best bet who would be the perfect match-up for Sanji based on the little information we have, and who just works in the timeline is with the marines. Ryokugyu - as a counterpart for Kuzan who is most likely a spy as well.

Why would he become an ally ? Remember that he chose to stay loyal to Krieg and continued to serve him, even when it meant he had to fight Sanji. It could be the same thing here, being ready to fight Sanji to the death out of loyalty towards BB. And Sanji would have to overcome his kindness for the sake of his crew. Just imagine the emotional weight this fight would carry, nothing could compare with that.

Maybe Robin on Sanjuan Wolf and Sanji should get Burgess.

I guess that's true but like I don't sense any hype from him yet. If he turns out to be some monster (Gin) then I might change my mind.

We know next to nothing about most Blackbeard Pirates yet and any time spent developing the Tenth (who we know literally nothing about) can also be spent working on Pizarro, who has the foundation stones of being North Blue royalty (which points to him fighting Sanji just as much as Auger being a sniper points to him fighting Usopp).
