Kinda irrelevant. Marineford and the entirety of preskip is linked to the current group of characters being focused on. It's just post timeskip up till the end of Wano which really doesn't have much to do with the current cast/events (Kaidou, Big Mom and their crews).
It says a lot about the Yonkou saga that the comment was made during it, and he said...yea don't even worry about reading this.
Oda said it. And honestly these are the characters that always mattered from the jump (Shanks, Mihawk, BB, Akainu, Gorosei, Dragon etc.), so it's understandable.
