Powers & Abilities Oda is being very one dimensional with Kid’s power

Sorry mate but all this is a mess, Kidd had not even intention to attack Kaido. He was plotting against Shanks with his alliance (after he lost an arm against him).
He had bad luck cause Apoo was a snitch and Kaido fell on their heads, but didn't back down cause he is a Conqueror like Luffy and prefered to take the beating rather than kneeling like Hawkins and Apoo.
Killer too stayed with him just like Zoro would have stayed with Luffy.
You are essentially trying to depict him like a fool similar to Jack when Oda's intention is a whole other thing. Your it's pure downplaying.
He is now in Onigashima to revenge himself and his crewmates (Killer in particular), it's impossible to know for sure how large will be his role in taking down Kaido. Imo he will be top 3 for sure for relevance but lets see.
Also his plot will continue in the future with Shanks, he was his objective since day one.

Also don't get fooled by whinking that the rest of the story will be wrapped this fast, the journey is still really long.
It's not that I depict him like that... it's HOW I would have wrote him INSTEAD of his current depiction... cause yeah, I would have enjoyed him more as Jack... BUT as someone who has BIGGER potential than Jack, who can still go after Luffy's ass after the arc ends... and still keep on his tail...
Jack wouldn't be that guy, but Kidd can play that role since they are part of same generation...

But yeah, his character is different and I agree... I just would have enjoyed him more that way...

Anyway, regardless of however his character is... I still don't feel his role will be as a big rival for luffy.. I just don't feel it...

I will say this... Kidd can ONLY stand on equal footing with Luffy after this arc ends IFFFFFFFF
Luffy took down Kaido
Kidd took down Big Mom

but if they teamed up on same opponent... just say goodbye to being a rival, Oda will make sure to make Luffy has the most impact on that fight + he will b the one to knock Kaido out... and not to forget the Zoro having hands in defeating Kaido too...

So, the best chance for a good rivalry is:

Luffy + Zoro vs Kaido
Kidd + Killer vs BM

they can get help from other characters.... but this is the ONLY way for a good equal rivalry building up... and whenever I mention this, some people just too annoyed by the idea of TWO yonko falling at same time, and specially BM fans who just have so much addition to the idea of "BM falls in Elbaf" they start raging and attacking me LOL

but it really is the only way... BOTH Luffy and Kidd should get the final attack... and it should be on opponents who wre depicted as equals.. and Kaido and BM has been treated VERY SIMILARLY by Oda... even their close bounty and their special trait of not getting scratched easily...

Not to mention "combo attacks are cheesy as fuck" so I don't wanna hear Luffy and Kidd punching Kaido in combo attack please LOL. cringe

First of all we have not seen much from him anyway. What if he can use that attract, retract stuff on himself and speedblitzes around the battlefield with a hakified "punk rotten". Patience.
Secondly I think that preparation simulates his df awakening. Imo it will do what his awakening would do, basically grant him an endless amount of metal. This way we can see Kid fight to his fruit's max capability, even though we might never see his actual awakening.

All in all he still has bad luck.
His opponent still is Kaido. Even if he shows insane stuff, with which he legitimately could fight a top tier, he will most likely still not be able to seriously wound Kaido with his attacks.

I'm confident that Oda knows what he is writing, and has put a lot of hints around not only in Wano but even before.
These hints are growing chapter after chapter since the raid started.
Anyway I take your point of view much more seriously than the mid reader which goes 'usEleSS cAbIN KidD' cause he doesn't know what to say.
So we'll see :kayneshrug:

Ofcourse potentially Oda could have build awesome powers on the top of Kidd'df, even more considering what he build on the top of something not so special like the gomu gomu, yet Kidd is just a secondary character so he will not get any kind of development, bar soke kind of secret-super mode we could see during the Kaido fight (but I expect a giant metal golem at best, nothing really original).

Mv then. 2 months.

In 2 years and 2 months, what did Kidd do?
Destroyed Big Mom’s ship, punked one of her sweet commanders and fought the red hair pirates and he didn’t receive special training from the pirate king’s right hand for 2 years, he improved through constant fighting and surviving in the new world which is far more respectable I’d say, also Luffy feared his crew wouldn’t make it in the new world while all the supernovas crews made it just fine which shows they had more balls and greater ability than the strawhats. The only thing Luffy has on him is luck, hearing the voice of all things, making allies wherever he goes and other plot bullshit out of his control. With all that going for him Luffy still isn’t stronger than Kid so you can keep hating but you can’t deny Kid’s power and role within the story.

I feel like Oda could do alot more with Kid’s DF in terms of versatility but all he does is collect junk literally. I don’t see how that puts him on equal footing with alot of other supernova even though I personally think he’s the strongest supernova.

However Oda is making it seem like Kid can’t do anything without some metal laying around.
Of course he could do a lot more with it. The question is does Oda want to?

Seems to me Oda is setting Kid up for a fall, and he’s highlighting it through Kid’s unrefined suggestion of carrying a bunch of metal to use against Kaido.
He’s literally playing out the suggestion Oda criticized of Luffy launching a bigger punch to beat Kaido.

He gave Law more stuff so he’s wrong for not developing Kid’s powers at all.
When did Luffy and Zoro stop being Supernovas?
Kid has better portrayal than Luffy, you can argue whether or not he’s stronger, I personally think he is.

Zoro is one of the weakest supernova imo, him sneaking Apoo doesn’t mean much.

Well, Law and Kid are two very different characters.
Kid had a better portrayal than Law pretimeskip so he should’ve developed his use of his DF more than Law did. Right now there is literally nothing different from what he was doing pretimeskip.

>expecting One Piece characters to not be One Dimensional fighters

Name me ONE character that isn't a "punch hard" type fighter besides Mr 3
All the swordsmen, Kaido’s dragon form, Law who I just talked about and a million more.

That's an indicator that there's still a lot to show

Where exactly does Kid have better portrayal?

Besides that, my point was that Law isn’t as physically inclined a fighter as Kid. It makes sense why he’d develop his powers in more unique ways than Kid.
