General & Others Oda just doesn't care anymore

#42
Of course, he doesn't care, he's milking as much $ as he can and he will dip.

What did you expect? In his original plans, this manga was meant to last 5 years max.

We are 21+ years deep.
No series should go passed 500 chapters, after One Piece and MHA finish I don't think we'll ever get a series this long running again. The industry knows that as well.

True.

That's why JJK is one of the best mangas ever, well written, and intriguing and it will wrap up 300 max.

Oda does care otherwise he still wouldn't be writing one piece.

Many authors do give up after all.

He might be tired with the project as it's been dragged for 22 years now. I mean imagine working on same project for this long and still come up everyday to work...this isn't easy.

As far as milking is concernd then yeah and he isn't wrong at this. He worked for it so why not make maximum out of it.

And, who won't? I am sure if anyone of us was in his place we would have done the same.

So, he doesn't care or is milking the series is bad criticism..

One piece however hasn't been that interesting in past 6/7 years because of bad and inconsistent writing.

But I hope One piece peaks again and since wano ended OP is looking better

I have the 17 volumes and volume 0, it good but it definitely has the Hunter X Hunter problem of being a bit too wordy at times. It is something I do think One Piece did very well is that it is a very quick and easy read.

If he can focus and cut back on the fluff and bloat of the last couple arcs, we could get a good ending.

Disagree.

The more money u make the more you will always want, and One Piece is pretty much a golden egg in Japan.
Yeah and that's the case with everything.

If you start a project and it starts giving you good returns then you will do whatever you can to gain the maximum out of it.

It's caring about your work even if it has money motive behind it.

Also, there is an emotional aspect in human beings.

When we devote such long time to anything we do get emotional attachment to it. And, emotions play role in building the caring aspect

It's really good because it explains a lot.

I don't know why people have problem with mangaka actually explaining what he is doing and why. What I love Gege's writing for is actually explaining stuff well, it is rare to be confused about the writing, he goes ham with the explanation of powers but hey, it is better than just having mfker spam one move and you never know how or why this move was created.

Ussop being a "brave warrior" is not going to be what people expect, he's not going to get much stronger than he is currently. But it's been 1000 chapters and he still acts like he's East blue Ussop half the time.
Oda definitely dropped the ball on developing characters, but I don't think there are significant instances of characters "doing stuff that doesn't make sense from their own perspective" in recent memory. Except maybe Kid forgetting about Kaido.

Well that and the PIS in Oda's fights. But that has always been a thing.

There's definitely a fine line between the two, but also their is overexplaining at times and explaining things that might not need it as well.

I'm in favor of explaining why/what for something exists/does what it does so I love this manga especially.

In One Piece you just have to imagine and believe u will hit the jackpot, rarely Oda explains something and leaves fans satisfied.

One Piece definitely doesn't do a good job in explaining things well, but I also don't just want a block of text explanation either there does need to be a good medium, explaining things simply and concisely is a skill in its own.

Oda doesn't have to do a wall of text, but he doesn't even do a minimal job.

Recently One Piece is all about hype moments like cool moments in the fight or bounties. Isn't this just sad?

We still don't know what Devil Fruits are after 21 years of serialization and what Haki is.

For Haki, we only have accepted by fandom standards.

I don't even want to start on the story, you could probably write a full novel chapter about what Oda didn't explain and as I said my man. He doesn't have to write a wall of text, he is so lazy he doesn't even give one/two liners.

The those hate the one piece after post time skip are only here :) you should understand the differences . Pre time skip we have little world . After time skip , we have bigger words with lots of character . Except some arc , oda dealt with it very well .
The world building isn’t a problem - arguably, it’s always been and still is Oda’s strongest skill - but at a certain point, if he’s just building and delaying the payoff, people will naturally get frustrated. I have followed this story for a long time, and there are still plot lines teased a thousand chapters ago that have yet to be resolved…if it ends up that he bit off more than he can chew and rushes through the ending of the series like he demonstrably did with Wano, I think we can blame it on this tendency to keep setting the table without serving an actual meal.

Yeshh that what we really feel
And you know what more frustating
The blind fans who always cheering oda up like nothing was happened

I agree your points . However when people say wano is the one of worst arc in the manga history . I cannot accept. Author can prefer to resolve many thing later and i find this is frustrating too .

Wano wasn’t the worst arc, but there’s no denying that the way it wrapped up was visibly rushed and sloppy. Yes, there’s always the potential for a payoff later on…but that’s also true of Vegapunk, a character who’s consistently been presented as an important figure in the story, who we’re just now meeting a full 600 chapters after he was “introduced,” and we still know virtually nothing about major figures like Rocks, Imu, or the Gorosei 100-900 (!!!) chapters after they were revealed. If we wanna tease this thread out even further, the amount of information we have on guys like Dragon, Shanks, and Mihawk is also pretty lacking, and they’ve received far more panel time than everyone mentioned above. This is a real clunky analogy, but our real-life universe is always expanding, and it will eventually have to contract; by that same token, Oda’s set up so much shit over the last 25 years that we’ve reached the point where not going back to fill in the numerous blanks isn’t an option.

What a irony...
If you think one piece is okay, then how you can explain this..? :milaugh:
One Piece is not perfect nor ever was. And of course Wano is not perfect. I think it has two noteworthy problems, the Sanji vs. Queen fight, which is the worst in all of One Piece, although the fights are not the best of One Piece, and there are too many Scabbards, which made the Flower Capital lengthen, I would remove at least two.

Then there are things that could have been changed a bit to improve Wano, but I don't think they are bad at all. Like shorten the Luffy vs Kaido fight, shorten the Kanjuro theme (it would remove the Oden clone part), lengthen the Robin, Franky and Jinbe fights a little more...

That said, most of the complaints I read are toddler tantrums because what you want doesn't happen and that image demonstrates it perfectly LoL.

-Kokeshi dolls/poneglyph mystery.
What is the problem? They are simple dolls that we now know are the great treasure of Sukiyaki. It's your problem if you wanted something else.

-Nidai Kitetsu.
What is the problem? A sword, which has been introduced +900 chapters ago. We know it exists, we have seen it. Everything's fine.
It's your problem if you wanted something else.

-Hitetsu's identity and conformation on the man he was waiting for (probably just Tokfs prophecy).
What is the problem? Now we know that Hitetsu is Sukiyaki and the man he was waiting for is Luffy, the one from Toki's prophecy or maybe Momo. It's okay to remain uncertain. It's your problem if you wanted something else.

-Tama's promise with Ace.
What is the problem? Ace died and Luffy fulfilled the incomplete promise. The inherited will, something repeated several times. It's your problem if you wanted something else.

-The guy in warty clothing drinking with Crocus.
What is the problem? We don't know if he's a man from Wano or even if he's important. It is not a good or bad thing. It's all your paranoia. It's your problem if you wanted something else.

-Brainwashing of children in flower capitol.
What is the problem? The winners write history, it is something that has always happened and will always happen. Moreover, it is something that Doflamingo himself said. It's your problem if you wanted something else.

-Why Wano was called the Land of Gold.
What is the problem? This is something that has already been explained to us, because before there was a lot of gold in Wano but it was looted for centuries until Ryuma put things in their place. You don't even know how to read anymore. It's your problem if you wanted something else.

-Zoro getting revenge for Yasuie.
What is the problem? If the same manga makes it clear to you that it is Hiyori who wants to kill Orochi. You don't even know how to read anymore. It's your problem if you wanted something else.

-Any real character development coming from Lords new heritage.
What is the problem? That is something that time will tell. It is something that concerns Wano and its inhabitants, not us. It's something that Momo will have to do like Oden did. It's your problem if you wanted something else.

-Any character development for Kid. For a guy who just beat a Yonko he seems like a fairly flat character
with no role going forward.
What is the problem? Kid is a secondary character, probably with little relevance in the future, he cannot be required to develop the same as a main character. He has too much and more than we have been told on SBS 104;

- A reader asks if there is any reason why Kid and Killer became pirates. He also wants to know what the history of Heat and Wire is and why they joined Kid and Killer. Oda explains everything to us.

The 4 were born on an island in the South Blue, Kid and Killer have known each other since they were children. That island was not affiliated with the World Government, it was ruled by a criminal gang that acted as if they were royalty. The island was divided into 4 districts and in each of them there was a group of outlaws. Kid, Killer, Heat and Wire were the leaders of those outlaw groups and there was conflict between them every day.

One day, a special friend of Kid's was killed by the criminal gang that ruled the country. She was “Victoria S Doruyanaika” (Kid and Killer's first love that Oda told us about in SBS Volume 87). Kid, enraged, united the 4 groups of outlaws and eliminated the rulers of the country.

Kid: "I don't want to live in a closed world like this!"

And so he formed a pirate gang with his friends and they named his ship the “Victoria Punk”, in honor of his murdered friend.

It's your problem if you wanted something else.

-Queen vs. Who's-Who (Five different mentions of them wanting to kill each other with no resolution.)
What is the problem? It's never mentioned that Who's Who is after Queen, that's something you guys made up. Later it is explained that Who's Who was after X-Drake. You don't even know how to read anymore. It's your problem if you wanted something else.

-Any point in Apoo or the Numbers existence.
What is the problem? The Numbers in the end turn out to be fodder, as is often the case with many One Piece or any Shonen characters. Even some with interesting development. It's your problem if you wanted something else.

-Numbers Yamato is friends with looking so similar to the Daimyo from her past.
-Yamato character arc in general. Her last exchange with Kaido is literally a cliffhanger of Kaido yelling
about her fate as an Oni.
-Onis.
What is the problem? More mental straws that are not fulfilled and you cry. It's your problem if you wanted something else.

-Why Kaido and the Beast Pirates refer to Yamato as a he. I'm pretty sure it isn't because of how
progressive they are.
Well, you're wrong, simple respect for Yamato's feelings. That some brutes and chumps are more tolerant than some of this forum is a real problem.

-Yamato's mother and why she was called 'Ofli princes? (no one refers to Kaido as a king/royalty).
What is the problem? There are many mothers that we don't know, including Luffy's, Zoro's, Nami's, Franky's, Brook's... Damn, Kaido is an EMPEROR, it's okay to say that Yamato is a princess. It's your problem if you wanted something else.

-Just Carrot in general. She's been a complete non-factor in the arc despite her one moment of focus
being a scene which basically forces her to continue adventuring instead of going back to Zou.
What is the problem? Carrot is a secondary character, with more development than some main characters in other works. We are even told why he can't go out to sea, whether you like it more or less. It's your problem if you wanted something else.

Basil Hawkins ability to let people/himself fight beyond their natural limit mentioned in act 1 was never
used. Spoilers for the chapter don't really line up with how he acts in the fight vs. Killer or before the fight.
His ability is literally to use people as a shield and protect himself.
Well, with the topic of overcoming the limits of the fruit of Hawkins, I will give you a point. It was about time after so much crying something decent. But it's less of a problem as it's a well-developed sideshow with a cool, witty One Piece-style fight.

-Why Kaido is revered as 'guardian deity' and also the importance of Dragons in general, given the Dragon
Statue that Ace destroyed isnt modeled after Kaido (doesn't have four horns like Kaido does).
What is the problem? Kaido is not revered as a deity of anything. In fact, the guardian deity is the Okuchi no Makami, the fruit that Yamato ate, which Kaido does refer to as the guardian deity of Wano. You don't even know how to read anymore. It's your problem if you wanted something else.

-Shadow at the end of Chapter 1004 was never confirmed to be Hiyori and none of the scabbards
recognized her.
What is the problem? It was confirmed that it was Yamato, in the anime it is very clear. You don't even know how to read anymore. It's your problem if you wanted something else.

-Toki being from the Void Century never played a role in the plot.
What is the problem? Secondary character with a good development. The century of emptiness is something that is not yet destined to be known. It's your problem if you wanted something else.

-Who's Who's identity and being killed by CPO. Why did a random prison guard randomly tell him about such super secret Information? Also Jinbei seems familiar with the Nika story.
What is the problem? We know the identity of Who's Who and the topic of talking to him about Nika is a script convenience like a million in One Piece and all the manga. It's your problem if you wanted something else.

-Big Mom Pirates and World Government Ships just left?
What is the problem? Those of the Government yes and those of Big Mom are mini-story meat. It's your problem if you wanted something else.

-Zunesha just came all this way to drop some lore and leave?
What is the problem? No, we know that he came to open Wano's borders, but since Momo said it wasn't the time, he left. It makes perfect sense. You don't even know how to read anymore. It's your problem if you wanted something else.

-Zoro and the Grim Reaper.
What is the problem? It was simply a representation of the rebound effect of the Mink medicine. It's your problem if you wanted something else.

-Why Luffy 'died' before awakening. Or at least why Oda choose to spin it that way.
What is the problem? Manual cliffhanger. Non-deaths is a recurring problem in One Piece, there is no point in complaining about it at this point.

-Opening the borders of Wano.
What is the problem? It has already been explained to us why the borders are not opened, but it is something that sooner or later we will see, it is perfect narratively. You don't even know how to read anymore. It's your problem if you wanted something else.

-Kanjuro was revived, made the whole flame demon thing that accomplished nothing, and then died?
Yes, I already said that this is a small problem, but there are problems of this type in almost all the sagas. It's also not that dramatic.

-Kaido victory cry was foreshadowed as late as 1038, really makes me wonder how much pre-planning
Oda is doing of the story. King and Queen were both seemingly knocked out of Onigashima into water. Did they die? Are all the
Beast Pirates in Udon? Did someone go into the magma and get Kaido and Big Mom?
What is the problem? Well, it seems that Kaido and Big Mom are really dead, for those who asked for deaths. And the King and Queen thing is already explained. You are cravings. Oda has things planned for a long time and others not so long, like any mangaka. Although Oda is one of the best planners.

-Yamato gave a big speech to Momonosuke about fighting against impossible odds and how it's better to
die free/fighting than live as a slave. Luffy awakened in the same chapter not giving Momonosuke a
chance to respond to Yamato's words.
What is the problem? We have already seen how Momo has matured a lot and his determination, even if she is facing an Admiral. In the end Momo is 8 years old that some of you forget. It's your problem if you wanted something else.

-Oda apparently wrote an entire cover story for Caribou to come to Wano just so he could give Luffy some
meat. Who's he going to sell the Poseidon Info to?
What is the problem? Caribou is the Buggy of the New World, give it time man, you are impatient.

-Usopp said he would take down two of the Tobi Roppo, hopefully someone else can confirm but I believe
Usopp's lies are almost always things that either come true later in the arc or can come true later in the
series.
I don't think this is part of Usopp's lies, nor do I think all lies are true. Although i will accept that the development of Usopp in Wano leaves a lot to be desired.

-No confirmation of how Orochi's devil fruit works made it difficult for readers to tell if he was alive or
dead, especially with all the fake-outs.
What is the problem? It was generally known how the Orochi fruit worked. Perhaps the only doubt is the first death, but not the others. This is ineptitude on the part of a certain fandom group. It's your problem if you wanted something else.

-How will Law even approach his goal of learning the true history without any way of reading the
poneglyphs?
What is the problem? Thanks to the Muguis and especially to Robin. Whether you like it or not Luffy and Law are friends and not rivals.
It's your problem if you wanted something else.

-How will Law even approach his goal of learning the true history without any way of reading the
poneglyphs?
What is the problem? Who says Kaido doesn't have the awakened fruit? Let us remember that the awakened Zoran are characterized by their durability, which Kaido has amply demonstrated. I repeat, they don't have to explain everything to us, it's okay to leave something to the imagination and personal reasoning.

-What Big Mom said about the country having a piece of One Piece?
She said no such thing. That is a misunderstanding

-Why Momonosuke can't die, why Yamato and Oden think he will guide the world to the dawn. Oden's
journal.
What is the problem? The ruling lineage is always something that is emphasized for protection. And it is something that the manga itself also says when Hiyori and Momo are separated. You reach ridiculous points the truth.

-Not clear why Drake blew his cover just to let Law free. CPO/Sword dynamic Is still vague.
What is the problem? That is something the future will tell. Again it is an anxiety problem.

-Sanji Germa Transformation has been completely ignored ever since 1031 ended.
What is the problem?

-No real strong parallels between Scabbards/Strawhats or Luffy/Oden. Makes me wonder why Oda made
nine of them given how shortchanged some were for development/screen-time.
True, I have already said that I would have removed two or three. Kawamatsu and Denjiro and perhaps Ashura, although the latter with his death does contribute a lot to the plot.

-Kaido's words about the people of Wano being losers and having accepted defeat just kind of ended up
being true.
False, they fought and won.

-Kaidds words about the alliance needing to see Luffy be defeated to test their faith didn't go anywhere.
What is the problem? Fake. We saw what happened when Luffy "lost". Some fell apart but others kept hope, like life itself.
It's your problem if you wanted something else.

-Big Mom's plan/purpose in Wano. Why Luffy declared he would fight/beat her like a dozen times since
Fishman Island only for them to never dash? Still don't know what Kid stole from her either.
What is the problem? They have made it clear to you that Big Mom's purpose was to capture/kill Luffy. Luffy is not a fortune teller and things don't always go as planned. Again like life itself. And in a way, if Luffy defeated Big Mom since it was the alliance of Luffy himself and Law. It's your problem if you wanted something else.

-Still no Road Poneglyph?
What is the problem? This topic has already been explained. I guess it's an anxiety problem again. You have no patience.

I'm late, but there you have everything explained. :zosleepy:[/QUOTE]
