Doesn't matter how many times he lost. It doesn't make sense.

Goku trained to get stronger after each loss. Luffy became strong by losing. That is the issue. Every loss just make it worse for his winning. would have being better if Luffy lost just once or twice. But after his third lost it is better that he keep losing.

Luffy should beat Kaido after ACoC. No reason to lose again and beat after that. Unless that Zoro is the one to beat and kill Kaido. Or at least team up against him.

Oda always gives redeeming qualities to antagonists.

Doffy for example, all the shit he did but he still had his "family" he respected even tho they were weaker than him.

yeah thats the problem. Kaido is meant to be evil but oda just cant help himself. He wants the audience to love kaido so hes making it seem like kaido and luffy have developed a friendship during this fight. To be fair though, he has succeeded in doing this. The fans love kaido and want him to beat luffy over and over. Unfortunately oda is more concerned about making "villains" more likeable rather than evil and detestable.
