Oda botched the Oden fight considering how Oda wants us to believe Oden is in the same tier as Roger/WB. Oden never pushed Kaido to his hybrid form, his feat was vs base dragon form and he ended up being defeated after a no name club attack.

This was against a weaker Kaido 20 years ago.

Meanwhile the 5 SNs have been able to push Kaido to hybrid whilst also having to deal with another Yonko.

Oden should have fought Hybrid Kaido too. It would make his performance appear more impressive.

Yeah. It's true that oden has enough power to make give kaido a true damage, but he fought dragon mode kaido who is easy to attack. So oden wasn't that really impressive because he hasn't fought the best version of kaido (hybrid mode).

The problem is that you don't need to unlock hybrid technically

Why would Oda reveal Kaido's hybrid in a flashback...cmon

The implication from their fight was that Kaido being in whatever form would be irrelevant because Oden was about to 2 shot him

Doesnt really matter. Kaido's "how high is your ceiling" scene portrays Oden as equal to the other legends.
Just like Oden's speech "If I cant beat him, no one else will be able to either in a long time".
And yeah, revealing hybrid in a flashback is a bad decision in storytelling.

The battle was off-paneled for the most part. We don't know what he did or didn't do. There's also no proof it would have made a major difference either way.

Why would he go from his weakest to his strongest form all of a sudden after such small timeframe had he not been worried about the situation when the plot heavily suggests so in addition?

No sensible reason to believe he did it for other reasons given the general plot situation.

You know, Kaido never intended to fight Oden in a clean fight. He wanted to exhaust him in the battle which is why he brought all of his men against just 11 fighters. Kaido knew he gonna lose to Oden which is why he never took 1 Vs 1 against him. He just flew above the ground and Boro Breathed all the way until Oden One-shotted his Dragon ass down. He then cheapshotted the distracted Oden even though it wasn’t his plan cause he knew he would have never won against him.
If Oden couldn’t defeat him, Kaido wouldn’t have nightmares of him 20 years later.

Nobody on Wano right now except BM , was able to even make kaido fight seriously

Retainers were close but failed to beat dragon kaido
SNs didn't even fatally wound dragon kaido

Oda making Kaido use hybrdi is the same as Katakuri using awakening against g2 and g3 luffy coz he got bored and wanted to eat.
Kaido isn't seirous, nobody forced him to use hybrid

Oden > any SN individually
Oden >= kidd + Law + Luffy
Oden > 9 retainers

Oden couldn't beat base kaido at the castle...couldn't even overpower him for hours they clashed.

Oden could only look beastly against dragon kaido coz he's a huge target.
