I know we all have our criticism towards One Piece, but hey, week after week we come to WG and discuss the manga.

So I want to know what do you enjoy about One Piece?

As for me, I enjoy world building the most and have a handful of favourite characters I am genuinely interested in. I also threw a couple of options to the poll for fun, because I also enjoy that I can discuss OP here on the forum with y'all :)

1. The main cast. I love all of the main characters (except chopper, I think oda really did him dirty). And when the straw hats have time to be the straw hats, focus into their characters the chapters are usually really good. Hence why I feel like Wano was so bad, the straw hats barely talked to one another and the Scabbards (most of which were redundant) and Yamato took up screen time.

2. The world building and how well explained the world government is. You can draw flow charts that perfectly explain the breakdown of power in the world government which is rare in many traditional shonen manga.

When I first joined the forum I had just came back from a 3 year hiatus and wanted to participate in the Ryokugyu fiasco, decided to stay after randomly coming across a longtime Admiral bro from way back in the days @Elder Lee Hung, then met a couple more chads and decided to stay. I’d immediately take a hiatus if I stopped shitposting here so there’s that

Agree, having fellas to talk to and shitpost together does make the agony of weekly releases and breaks more bearable and even fun. I can always rely on @Mr. Reloaded to take another bet

One piece is carried by Zoro. Without zoro , it is garbage series for fodders like mihawk, yonko, admrials, luffy. I would dropped series at 100 chapters if zoro has not exist.

I like how One Piece has dreams focused on freedom, without making the main characters perfect, idealistic people.

Luffy, Vegapunk, Robin, all are very caring people who want people around them to be happy, but, they're all very flawed people.

Oda makes it clear that the heroes aren't just magically perfect people. The protagonists aren't perfect, but, they don't use their tragedy as a reason to attack other people. Instead, they try to help people who're going through it, like they have.

That's what makes the Straw Hats likeable. They're fucked up weirdos who decide to help people even when there's nothing really in it for them, and that's why I love them. Sure, Nami will try to bribe Vivi for all she's worth at first, but, by the time Nami's gotten to know her, she doesn't care about the money anymore.
