You know you're looking at a good chapter when Katakuri is on the cover. As expected with a Strawhat epithet on the chapter title.

Sanji getting trapped by predator Maria gets a wonderful resolution. This is Sanji making amends for a plot thread that goes back Zou. Sanji is not responsible for the family he was born into or what Vinsmoke Judge is scheming, but he is at fault for using that as an excuse to separate himself from the Strawhats. After Kaido was on their tail, Sanji was not about to drag the crew into a Big Mom fight when they barely bribed her with gold in FI. He sacrificed himself for their safety. His faith in their ability wavered at that moment. Although he's shown how much he trusts the others in the past, handling two emperors at once for his own personal problems was a step too far.
Lo and behold, the impossible happens and the Strawhats end up fighting Kaido and Big Mom at the same time anyway. This time Sanji recognizes his flaws, that he cannot solve this by sacrificing himself alone. As he told Usopp in EL, there are some things he can do and others he cannot. Black Maria is going to attack the lifeless Scabbards and he will be powerless to stop her -- it's no longer just his own life at stake. And he's been given a free means by the enemy to call the other Strawhats for help. So Sanji swallows his pride and pleads for a woman protect his life when it should normally be the opposite. Amazing. We see the reactions around the base that give the impression Sanji is a clown for crying in a broadcast, luring his crewmate Robin into a trap to save his own skin. But the Strawhats understand. Nami says if Sanji is having trouble and calling for help, it can only be a woman behind it. Perhaps Sanji may become the laughing stock of the world when this is all over (luckily Zoro is on the roof), but he'll have grown a little closer to the Strawhats.

Robin delivers the biggest bitch slap of the series. And a death wink that hurt Sanji more than all of Maria's attacks. It's a nice twist we don't get to enjoy much where the weaker Strawhats get to save the stronger ones through a fight. Another layer to this is that it's Nico Robin, the most valuable Strawhat every one wants to kidnap and needs the most protecting. She is the one protecting other smiles now.
Robin thanking Sanji afterwards shows her genuine appreciation. Robin could have been shielded from running into a dangerous opponent, instead Sanji shows absolute faith in her ability to overcome Black Maria and her traps. A chance to repay this man for everything he does for the ladies. I do think it's funny, but probably not intentional, that we ran into two Robin look-alikes the last two chapters and one of them had a croc under her robe. But it makes Sanji's "Do not underestimate Nico Robin" much more powerful if he said it while having no idea where she was at the time.
Black Maria exposes her true colors along with super rare back cleavage. This is no traitor or CP0 spy. She's not the kind one either as she preys on young men, turning them into her toys and takes pleasure torturing a Strawhat with knuckledusters. A man who wouldn't even protect himself with haki or raid suit. She's as bad as the rest and she's going down. The hit from Robin shows that Black Maria's upper half is not a puppet or made of webbing, leaning towards a partial Zoan transformation with two heads. The most unusual Zoan transformation to date. Combine that with her finger tip webbing, her wall crawling, her flaming yokai weapon and Maria is looking like the most interesting of the Tobiroppo fighters. Sanji's wingman Brook was styling this chapter, but he feels like a third wheel as the other Strawhats get their own dinos and he has to share. Brook does have experience against a zombie Spider Monkey and he probably cleared the web trap, but I could see him dipping out as soon as the Gifter advantage is eliminated on Black Maria's side.

Apoo has a bigger HP bar than Kaido and no mute button, what a nightmare. Sanji on speaker gave us another tour around Onigashima. Looks like Hyogoro pulled a Lao G and returned to his prime to help Drake 2v1 Apoo. Marco and King locked in a casual YC1 stalemate reminiscent of Marineford. King is now shooting gunfire, which may not even be from guns but his own fire ability. He's going to try everything except using his sword, isn't he? Queen, although missing, gets props for creating the cyborg critters the eye paper is attached to. Brings to mind why doesn't Queen build Kaido an entire cyborg army like Scotch? Well Kaido does have a preference for beasts, and Queen might just be lazy. Jinbe teasing us once more showing he's holding his own against Who's Who and the pussycats. He actually shows more concern for Sanji than the giant saber teeth about to bite his arm. Lastly, Heat and Wire get their first apperance since they were sailing on the Victoria Punk just to throw shade at Sanji. Let's hope there's more in store for their future.

The Jack is back, here to lay down the smack, this man doesn't know the meaning of slack. Kaido's hardest worker returns with an eye patch and a reattached tusk courtesy of mammoth glue, eager to get revenge on the Scabbards. While Sanji is heading in that direction for a possible battle of the handicapped, it's interesting that Queen disappeared this chapter. It might be for the best if Yamato is the one who intercepts Jack to finally get out of babysitting duty as Momo and Shinobu meet the mystery person. I'm definitely not saying this because Momo is enjoying his "father's" chest pillows while everyone else fights a war. For now, Enel stays on the moon for another week.

Great analysis.

P.S: Is "Lampyris" a reference to World Trigger?

My boy is back and I finally hope Oda give him more hype and a great battle. I think he will face Sanji and take some hype before facing later Yamato.

Overall a great chapter,Sanji throw his pride away and ask for help was kinda epic since he do it only to beeing able to save the Scabbards, showing how great his character is.

And Brook and Robin vs BM gonna be amazing!
