Chapter Discussion [One Piece] Chapter 1014 ~ Predictions

Disclaimer: Might be a lengthy post.
Although Chapter 1012/3 weren't the greatest of chapters, they set up a lot of interesting future plotlines. Namely regarding Luffy, Nami, Momo, and Yamato.

• Luffy falls off.
• Nami in a pinch.
• Momo reading Oden's journal.
• Yamato making their way up to Kaido.

In an earlier Prediction thread, I established this sort of outline for the future chapters/volumes based off my headcanon on the flow of events:

• Kaido Flashback 1012-1022 (within this range)
• Kaido and Beast Pirate Formation within the next Volume.
  • Volume 99: Chapter 995-1003/4? [Indicating Luffy has arrived on Shanks board]
  • Volume 100: Chapter 1004/5-1013/4? [Indicating Luffy is able to Clash with Emperors]
  • Volume 101: Chapter 1014/5-1024/5? [Kaido FB?]
• Act 3 Ending? And/or Post Reverie Continuity

Based on this sort of layout, the flow is heading in the way I'd imagined. Yamato heading up will trigger a very significant interaction/conversation between Kaido and Yamato. This may serve as the entry into Kaido's past, Yamato's life story, and even Rocks/God Valley information.

Backtracking to Chapter 1003, I am fairly certain, this chapter was an Act ending chapter. The clues are as follows..

That would signify this chapter (1003/1013) and/or the following chapter being the Volume ending Chapters, given a similar train of flow. Luffy is down bad (1003 Luffy ran out of Gear 4 Haki) and the surrounding circumstances are looking murky (Luffy down, Zoro down, Sanji has to carry Zoro).

Some people, me included, eagerly believe this chapter and the next are tragic chapters leading to an act end (although we say this every other "tragic moment"). This time, however, the triggers include Zoro's incapacitation, Luffy getting flung unconscious, and Tama's injury from Ulti; three significant characters within this entire arc. Anyways, pacing should get quicker and a slew of events may be thrown at us, perhaps regarding Jinbei, Killer, Eustass, Law, Sanji/Zoro, Kaido/Yamato, Tama/Nami/Usopp, Franky, Robin/Brook, Chopper/Queen, etc.....

Now if this next set of chapters (at least until 1018) are not act ending, then this arc will not follow a 5 Act Structure, imo.

1. Luffy is saved by Sabo and Rev's based on some cover art and my theories about Sabo & Rev's whereabouts.
2. Luffy reunites with Vivi, would mark 800+ chapters since they've last seen each other. (Void Century Number ~ Yes this is a reach Ik)
3. Or Luffy lands on BMP Ship or on Wano for building tension.
4. Someone said Luffy vs Kaido will be on Land, Sea, and Air. So far they've fought on Land and Air, maybe Luffy is conscious again and this time fights Kaido on Sea, since G4 can make him fly above the Waters.

Spoiler: 50 Chapters before Ace dies

Spoiler: Color Spread Chapter 987, Luffy carries Sabo's Pipe with a Black/Blue outfit (same as Sabos) with a Devil Fruit on it

Luffy is also smiling, could be because he is happy to reunite with Sabo again.

Spoiler: Foreshadowing? 974. Kaido vs Luffy on the Sea and Luffy wins this exchange?

I hate Onigashima and I think it's 99% garbage.
Having said that, chapter 1012 was cool and funny. Dont speak ill of the bromance.
I have 0 energy to try and predict much more of the shit show that's dragging in front of us like a freaking snail on slow motion. Only prediction I have is:
Sanji gets his matchup revealed on chapter 1017.
And no, no RA, or Vivi, or anybody else appears. At best we have cp0 doing something.
But considering how Oda intentionally drags chapters just to numerically fit some random ass BS pattern, maybe the Vivi/Luffy reunion after 800 chapters happens. Sounds the kind of dumb and cheap idea Oda would sacrifice the pacing of his story for.

Interesting. I too think that 1018 (the 60th chapter) will be the act-end and if it isn't, then yeah, it ain't a 5 act arc imo. Sabo, along with the rescued Vivi in Wano would be fun to see as well. I also think that the next chapter is gonna be hype as it's the 100th volume end.

Though I won't lie, I'll be a little disappointed if we only see the flashback from Yamato's PoV and not Kaido, meaning Oda will be able to skip over the Rocks stuff so that he can save him up for later. But still, I wish for it to be a Kaido flashback and not Yamato's.

I didn't think about that.
If the FB is told from Trashmato's perspective, Oda will definitely drop God Valley FB later (fOr hYpE).
Guess I'll keep expectations low.

My only strong opinion on what you quoted is that I expect Yamato to meet Kaido on the Rooftop (and the start of Yamato vs Kaido) within the next 10 chapters.

I don't think the flashback will come at the beginning of their battle, but later down the line (see e.g. Doflamingo vs Law).

One things for certain, they will definitely fight. But I think both before and after Kaido/their flashback.

Is she gonna have a defeat entrance like Brook vs Ryuma? I was hoping for some win like Franky vs Fukuro.

I was thinking that maybe Kaido himself "saves" Luffy, only to bring him down to the Live Floor and execute him in front of everyone (due to his last speech). That would be the moment when Yamato steps up to confront him and we maybe get the flashback.

Cinera's thread does justice with explaining the reasons why the fight should happen.
Kaido has a scar and is not in full health rn. Given this, I'm sure Yamato will shine some bit.

Also, I like the idea of Kaido placing Luffy on the Execution platform. That ramps up stakes nicely. Would parallel Marineford and the Momo prior sitrep. Would give a way for Zoro to burst his CoC haki.

Also @Cinera I believe Yamato will become a strawhat so I also fully believe shes getting a fight with a character. Who that is I can't put my definitely say. My wishes were either Smoothie, later on when the battle reaches Wano/Flower Capital (after Kaido's death an Perspective shifts to dealing with the BMP and BM). Jack is a possibility, but I see Jinbei defeating Jack still.

Pero tries to attack Marco but gets interrupted by Neko. We check in with Sanji and Yamato, and they're heading towards each other. Tama arrives to the live floor and gives her command. Then we see Hawkins and Killer both bloody, and the former makes an ominous statement involving Luffy. A mysterious figures laughs and confirms it.

It makes zero sense. If Kaido was going to execute Luffy, he wouldn't have yeeted him off Onigashima.

Kaido defeated Luffy, yeeted him from the battlefield, reverted to his Base form and lamented Luffy failing to meet his expectations.

Given this, I'm sure Yamato will shine some bit.

Yamato might fight others, but her main fight is with Kaido. It's only with Kaido that she has actual build up vs. an opponent.

If Yamato fights anyone other than Kaido, Jack is the best bet.

Both Fishman. Keep the theme of four commanders. Zoro Sanji Jinbei and Yamato. And three prominent commanders and a fourth wishy washy. I always maintained that Yamato would be a fourth strongest after the calamities. WsW mid diffed. Inu said he would hold off Jack. Ain’t no chance he’s defeating him.

Tell me your reasons for Jack vs Yamato aside from them having the same age.
