kaido is luffys only opponent so far who wont stop fighting if he gets knocked down or knocked out. like he said to luffy last chapter, because they're the same like that. you put them down and its not the end, they'll keep coming back until theyre dead.

point to me one person luffy ever did permanent damage do in the entire series and didnt just beat up and knock out. hes not crippling people or killing them.

That's the obvious stuff. But both scars and broken bones have been highlighted to differing degrees.

Luffy got his teeth knocked out in a serious fight and grew them back as a gag.

Zoro is known to sleep off grizzly wounds. Right now he's sleeping and it's being treated as a gag, with comically oversized bandage wrap. I don't think Zoro really even drinks milk to drag that joke back out, but Oda can definitely make his process hilariously simple.
