Okay so now I really think Oda is setting it up for Luffy & Zoro to get the W VS Kaido together (and possibly kill him)
It's been obvious since the very beginning that Wano was the "Luffy & Zoro Show" as he's the first SH Luffy ran into in Wano after Oda separated him from everyone
They both have specifically said they wanted to kill Kaido multiple times throughout the arc
They both strongly parallel Oden. Luffy is friends with his son & Zoro is using his sword (which he left for his son)
They led the charge through the fodder of Onigashima together
They were the only two SH's on the rooftop and got the best feats out of everybody there
They were both incapacitated in that fight and are currently recovering at the same time
The saying goes "If it's 1v1 bet on Kaido," Luffy is nothing without his crew (we know this) and Zoro is his first crewmate. So it's 1v2
The accomplishment of defeating Kaido is extremely relevant to both of their dreams
Then you add in the stuff people should know like the parallels between Zoro & Ryuma.
The only thing that doesnt add up is "If Zoro is fighting Kaido with Luffy, who's gonna fight King?" Well who better to fight King than Marco, two flyers who we already lowkey got a direct comparison of with them both kicking Big Mom's ship off the waterfall. It would definitely make Marco's presence makes sense and be essential if he defeats King & Sanji beats Queen while Zoro helps Luffy beat Kaido.

- Luffy and Zoro feeds Okobore town
- Luffy had to lose to Kaido so he could end up in Udon prison
- Zoro had to get lost so he can have his lone journey
In act 2:
- Luffy meets old man Hyogoro
- Zoro meets old man Yasuie
- Luffy gets trust of Udon prisoners
- Zoro gets trust of Ebisu town people and Hiyori
- Luffy gets adv coa
- Zoro gets Enma
- They were the only two highlighted to train with their respective powerups before the raid
In act 3:
- They started the fighting on Onigashima because they remember Tama's suffering
- They fought Apoo together
- They split up
- Luffy clashes with future ally Yamato
- Zoro clashes with future ally Drake
- Sanji and Jimbe makes way for Luffy
- Marco makes way for Zoro
- They faced Kaido together and are the only two to have done the most damage
- They both failed and were defeated despite their declarations
- And now in the same chapter, they are simultaneously recovering at the same time.
