Actually shanks is viewed like that by kaido, he was even compared to oden, rocks and goat beard, kaido and big mom have a brother-sister relationship, they don't even see each other as opponents, big mom says so herself she sees him as her little brother which is weirdly wholesome coming from someone like her

These two things are not mutually exclusive. He didn’t respect Luffy until Luffy went all out against him. If anything, it’s a statement that he and Shanks haven’t had a serious fight against each other. It’s not a referendum on Shanks, in the same way it wouldn’t be on Whitebeard.

Who cares, not even Shanks and Big Mom is viewed like that, and they fought Kaidou post Oden.

Considering how much of a bitch Kaido was when BM arrived at wano.... VC certainly fucked up

Whitebeard was Kaido's enemy lol, they were only allies during Rocks. They are not the same as Kaido to Big Mom.

Ask yourself why Luffy is being referenced to Shanks, Oden, Whitebeard, Roger and Rocks, and NOT Linlin.
