When did Oda said Kaido is the Ace? Tbh Yamato is the Ace because Yamato actually befriended Ace and have a backstory with him. Kaido himself doesnt follow the card system.
In most card games, the Ace and Joker are the strongest cards.

I take it as a symbolic way for Oda to state Yamato is the Ace because Ace is also a card. Other than that, Ace brought nothing to the plot of Wano.

Oh yes, because Sanji who only fought fucking absalom was more damaged than Zoro who fought Ryuma, right? Even during the Oars fight Zoro got the worst of it.

Zoro tanked all Luffy's pain withoud being KOed meanwhile Sanji couldnt even stay councious through a swordhilt in the belly.
