Zoro called Kaido out who turned and faced Zoro. Kaido then focused Zoro who entered asura mode.
After all of that they fought and Zoro bested him. There was no sneak attack. Nothing comparable to Law.
Zoro wasn't trying to knock Kaido down, he was trying to take him down. As in defeat him. Why would Zoro want to recreate the same feat he achieved with his dragon twister? Knock him down.
Learn to comprehend the manga. Zoro has high standards and scarring Kaido, a feat only achieved by one other person (Oden) was not enough for him. It's like being mad because you can't cut through a 10 foot thick steel beam. You can only cut through a 5 foot think steel beam.
You are correct, Yamato fight with Kaido is not comparable to Zoro's. She was in much better condition and grew stronger during their battle yet still caused Kaido less damage than Zoro's dragon twister. If you put her in the same condition as Zoro she would be defeated in an instant.
The same with Luffy. He has had multiple opportunities to face Kaido and finally prove he is a worthy opponent. Zoro hasn't. He had 1 opportunity and even with that 1 opportunity Kaido still acknowledged his strength
