Imagine fighting fresh kaido 1v1 , he'd be washed again
+ kaido likes to waste time to enjoy the battle while BM doesn't so she get serious quicker
Luffy is solid top tier with 3 advanced haki.
Kidd needs adcoc to be Top tier on top of awakening.
For now he's inbetweener and law too.

Contrary to his words, Kaido was actually holding back. Similar to Mihawk saying "die" to MF Luffy but actually held back.

As the story progresses, Kaido will be revealed as a good dad. Yamao will slowly change what she view on her dad.
