Oda really trying to make up for stupendously retconning Luffy’s fruit by having Kaido praise Roger and taking the focus away from the fact that Luffy was handed one of the most powerful fruits in the verse lol. Just makes Soyboy Nikka Luffy look worse.
Seems like this is the best opportunity to get Zoro involved as a non-DF user and get the final attack on Kaido over the capital

I dont recall calling mihawk flatout irrelevant but I do think shanks has made himself far more relevant and has received better portrayal.
the comparison would saitama would make more sense imo if there werent people stronger than mihawk in the world
there certainly are , he is just interested in fighting those you would call swordsmen seemingly. captains not name dropping him at all would imply he hasnt done anything relevant in 12 years would it not ?
in the same amount of time , his rival who doesnt constrict himself to sword duels continued to challenge stronger and stronger people which is why he gained that recognition.

it’s a balance, one can become really strong without mastering haki or having an OP fruit
