A lot of men have died. Denjiro cut someone in half. It is like a real war where mostly soldiers die and not the majors and generals and you haven't seen Kiku, Izo and Ashura so don't conclude until its over. One Piece never promised deaths. This is just a well timed ambush where they attacked when all were drunk and partying not like Marineford where everyone was anticipating and still only two big men were shown to have died and those deaths have been impactful. I don't criticise fairytail so for me you are just thinking too much.
