Yea I am just basing it off the spoilers and Oda history of making characters look bad just so he can make other characters look good. I don't like that type of writing.

No you don't. You don't have to make them look bad. When Akoji and Akaniu fought, did readers lose respect for Akoji because he lost? Did people lose respect for Lucci for getting beat by Luffy? Did people lose respect for Kisame when he easily got beat by Might Guy? Did people lose respect from Gara when he was getting tossed like a ball against Lee? Did peple lose respect for Neji after getting beat by Naruto? So many examples. You don't have to make a character look bad. Readers mostly respect characters for trying, rather than winning.

I don't understand why Oda continues to make characters look bad in order for other characters to look good. Why does he do this? He did with Big Mom, he did with Kaido, he did with King, Queen and now Green Bull is the latest victim of Oda. Does Oda know you can still make characters look good without having other characters look bad?

It's a cheap writing tool when you don't wanna devote time to building a character up—have them shit on previously established characters to get a quick wow from the audience. Really devalues the previously established characters though, I have grown to despise this trope.

Right? You can establish the same thing without dragging down the characters you spent an arc building up. Oda just does not care.

At the very least Aramaki's retreat made sense....since he loses a lot if he fights the Red Hair Pirates and wont get anything done lol.

Even worse kaido has the king to back him up . Greenbull is alone .

Kaido is unreasonable person for peace talk , yet shanks made kaido back off .

1st - Kaido didn't retreat because of Shanks, they met and we still don't know what happened there. It was offscreen. They either fought or talked. Either way, they at least met each other.

2nd - Big Mom didn't retreat from Marco either, she also clashed and fought with him for a bit, but she wanted to go for the rooftop, she didn't care about Marco. So she left.

3rd - Mihawk didn't retreat from Vista, they both said "let's fight another time, this doesn't really matter right now".

All these 3 "retreats" happened because characters had other motivations, they at least clashed or fought before that too.

Aramaki only "sensed" Shanks haki and decided to run away

he didn't even see Shanks lmao

no clashes, no fights

Kaido even brought King there

He wanted to fight so bad he brought King with him dude

Intro is chapter 1053. Chapter 1054 and 1055 were exposition of a character and his powers.
