I have a theory that Zoro is a kurozomi, since he was hanging out with Shimotsuki Kuina in some abandoned village in East Blue, it is most likely he was her servantboy, seeing that he still has one-itis after her death. That still didn't stop him from pushing her down the stairs, that's why he fealt guilty and embarassed when he met her lookalike Tashigi.
He will one day restore the clan to its former glory and avenge Orochi and Kanjuro

Oda not only showed him along that group but also had him interact with Whitebeard, Doffy, Mihawk, Akainu, Jozu and even Sengoku acknowledged his strength.
He certainly wasn't supposed to be taken as weak but yall "feats wankers" used every good feat for Crocodile (where Oda intends to say that he's strong) as an anti-feat for the other characters and started downplaying them (fex Mihawk).

It's the same "feats wankers" always switching up and talking about "SN trio, SN trio, CoC specialists, Great Pirates "
