If no one likes Luffy no one is bother to read 1000+ chapters no matter how much nostalgia people feel. Most of the story runs around Luffy. If they hate, how could they get pass through the story that revolves around Luffy and only read parts that just their favorites are part of? So maybe they always say 'One piece is shit' because they read only few panels? Or if they read everything, then they are big liars about skipping parts of story that is not involved their favorites.
