Yes, to the same extent that Whitebeard's attacking power increases because he consumed the Gura Gura, Kaido's resistance and durability increase because he consumed the Uo Uo. The question is that Kaido's fruit is more versatile and overall more powerful than Gura Gura. When consumed, Kaido's fruit grants the following: the ability to fly, the ability to transport islands and melt them by transforming into a massive magma serpent larger than an island, insane AOE with his enormous magma carpets, AOE attacks like his heat breath, lightning breath, wind breath, creation of gigantic tornadoes, grants the user accelerated recovery from attacks, which is practically instant recovery, and provides a significant increase in physical abilities such as strength, speed, durability, resistance, mobility, and elemental attacks.

Although Whitebeard's Devil Fruit is not bad, and I consider it one of the strongest, when we compare the advantages of obtaining both, Kaido's fruit is the winner.

When Page One sent Sanji, who was equipped with the Raid Suit, flying through buildings, Law pointed out that dinosaur fruits are quite a power boost. Now scale that up to the Azure Dragon, which significantly boosts your attack power along with your durability, endurance and recovery, gives you elemental abilities, flight, the ability to carry islands and melt them down by turning into an island sized magma-like serpent capable of spamming magma-like flames.

The Gura is merely offensive and even then, you can't go too crazy, as you would sink along with the island you destroy. Unlike the user of the Azure Dragon, that can flip the island and survive by flying.
