Not really when Arlong viewed Nami as an object to take but Luffy viewed Nami as a friend to save…
Precisely Luffy freed nami from Arlong and took her away if Luffy hadn't shown up Nami likely would of been working for arlong for years

I get LRLL makes it possible, but Bonney pulling out G3 after being told Nika rubberizes things still does not sit well.

Like I thought we all took Nika/G5 shockingly well for such a big retcon. Especially since it's also a ridiculous power with a lot of implications and was BARELY accepted in good faith when it was just Luffy.

But now a another fucking character has fucking Nika powers? Really diminishes G5.

Given Oda added the supernova as a last minute addition, did he change Kuma backstory too or Bonney was always someone he wanted to create even outside of the other SN ?
I feel like Kuma was introduced with revolutionaries in mind, while Bonney was introduced with Big Mom in mind. But guess Oda changed plans.

Aye my personal bias aside I think fellas are settin themselves up to get toweled again with Bonney

Main part being that Kuma has to die and be unable to be brought back with the memory bubble. That's Bonney's main motivation for sailing and her dream is to travel the world with her father. So as long as he is alive they are not going to split up again

Though I think there is something else to consider even if Kuma dies and that is Bonney being set-up to have anti-WG motivations

Her parents were Revos and both were taken away from her because of the WG, she also has the friendships with Vegapunk and Sentomaru who were both hurt by the WG

If Kuma dies she is gonna want to get revenge on the WG like she wanted revenge on VP before she learned the truth and the best path for that is through the Revos as that is their main goal.

The Straw Hats are probably gonna end up bein the main push behind the system crumbling but it is not something they're activley aiming for like with the One Piece. Something which Bonney has shown no interest in so far.

Joinin the Revos fits more with her character and motivations compared to the SHs.
Agreed 100%.

In my personal opinion, after this flashback, if it ends with anything besides Bonney and Kuma together again it will be considered a shit arc. Specially after how much Oda made it clear that they just want to be together as father and daughter.

The one I think will bite the dust is Kizaru. Maybe..

"Against worn-out tropes": By simply making a third-rate standard shonen beginning in the middle of nowhere. Oda is simply trying to be pretentious by going against wishes, even if he just does the most basic, tropey stuff. (Or trying to show off with an empty panel of an old character, like the "remember my cool character Doflamingo?" last time, and so on.)
"going against wishes" Are you talking about fans wishes? This is Oda's story that he is sharing with the world, and does not have to follow any fans' wishes.

Carrot was introduced early but Inu and Neko had more focus in her intro arc. And Pedro had more focus in the next arc.
Although Yamato had a fair bit of focus in her arc, she had a forced introduction and appeared out of nowhere in the climax of the arc.
Bonney on the other hand was introduced ages ago and had a solid build up. Now she even has a whole arc for herself with the most panel time.

Bonney is 99% confirmed to join. The other 1% chance being that she is Tra-guy 2.0 :lawsigh:
Don't hold your breath on that.
