We can confidently say the Gorosei aren't used to fighting that much, we don't see them fighting regularly do we? They were clearly taking the backstage for most chapters.
Gotta be honest at this point wedding cake obsessed starving big mom was more threatening than having all 5 elders on the island trying to stop the straw hats escaping.
Holy Knights/Imu/Ancient weapons will level the stakes but without the immortality stuff they haven’t felt like massive threats despite the great designs.

No shit. The only one that ever needed gas against anyone is Imu. The Gorosei could've stayed old men with no powers and it wouldn't have changed much. It's literally just so they have a reason to be on the battlefield so Oda can put them in the story.

The end of the arc is near. Robot holds off Gorosei while Giants, SHs escape…….Hope it’s done in less than 5 chapters so that this arc remains as one of the best.

Dunno about that. Saturn instantly pinning down Bonney, Sanji, Franky and the others effortlessly only to fail to do the same to Nami and co does seem quite a bit inconsistent imo.
