Seriously though, I'm glad Oda kept Katakuri as he is and mostly a badass ofc. I'm disappointed there was no explanation for why he dresses like a Beast Pirate and has a similar sort of presence and reputation you could say with Kaido, a sort of overwhelming titan who has never fallen but that whole goofy stretched mouth of his moment still plagues my hell's memories to this day lmao.

I can just imagine Oda giving Tontattakuri the most obnoxious Pica type voice to make it even worse too, like Nami's or Sanji's rage but with helium lol.

Oda drops a lot of hints but never seems to deliver on them, like the obvious Beast Pirate influence Katakuri had or just no confirming if Kaido and Big Mom had kids. Or why Katakuri is the only one among his litter to have a non-human mouth, or if its the result of a unique racial lineage, like fishmen or something since they keep calling him a pelican eel.

Same with how LOda initially claimed in WCI that all of Big Mom's children were of different races as part of Big Mom's desire to fulfill Mother Caramel's fake dream, only for the majority of her kids to turn out to be humans and those with unique traits like the pumpkin dude, the deer girl and the tanuki guy not getting elaborated on at all beyond getting names. Not even an implication that Big Mom's "human" children are hiding their non-human features like Pudding did.

It was the perfect arc to introduce all of the possible tribes and races in One Piece, yet the only new ones we got were three eyes and a mushroom man who Big Mom keeps locked in her book of rare species.
