The problem with Kaido is that we know has some deep backstory. But Oda simply didn't show anything

He did the opposite of Big Mom, who had an interesting character and backstory, but wasted her and treated her like shit while he treated Kaido like a super badass but absolutely neglected his backstory, motives and relations and dynamics with his crew save to a little insufficient extent with King.
