I've always said that's Luffy and Blackbeard's strongest parallel and BB's greatest argument for him being the final villain

BB is treated identically to Luffy

Oda never goes out of his way to openly embarrass characters like Shanks or Kaido but loves doing it with Luffy and Blackbeard

It makes Blackbeard feel like more of an "underdog" and main character if that makes sense. He also makes progress unlike other characters around his age that have stagnated

Old gaban seems to be speed based fighter. Old gaban was dodging luffy the same luffy who had no issues tagging Kizaru instantly.

Based on that fight we can gauge how this Gaban fights Kaido and currently it's no less than Drunken Mode what Kaido needs to win.

Base luffy got in some hits while using all version gears and all version of haki after he get a full meal .
Normal base ACoC luffy and ACoA get in two hit and black and them get beat and toss into the sea .
So when we see this fight if base luffy not using ACoC or ACoA what that going to tell you .
