Honestly? It doesn't sound that farfetched.
If IMU's henchmen somehow use the Void to either keep their true essence away (which would explain why all the Gorosei except Saturn were teleported back to Mariejois by JB's haki, since only Saturn had physically landed on EH), or to move the damage from their bodies and into the Void, "nullifying" the attacks, then being able to see where the Gorosei's/HK's essence precisely is inside their body and directly attack it with CoC, instead of targeting the whole body, then that could be the antidote to infinite regeneration.

Based on Summers and the Strawhats reaction, pointing torwards only the regeneration keeping him alive, I'd say it's pretty much set in stone that he is a Paramecia user:
Also, if he was Logia, we'd have seen him turning into his element after Robin snapped his neck, just like Aokiji did:

Next chapter Sommers vs Gaban ends,then in the following chapters Gillingham and Gunko will start causing mess,but thats when Luffy and co. comes back from the Underworld. So Luffy vs Gunko and Zoro vs Gillingham. Then maybe Shamrock will come back and Loki will want to fight him,but Luffy will soon join the fight. All of this hopefully in a not too high number of chapters

"Luffy vs. Gunko" would be quite interesting, indeed, mainly because, if it happens, Gunko will be the first female enemy Luffy's fought that isn't hideous, like Alvida and Big Mom. It'd be interesting to see if Luffy would be like Sanji and hold back against Gunko, just because she's pretty... then again, he did knock Vivi out once, so probably not.
