What's getting me is the name change
Did Blackbeard take his mother's last name over Xebec's for the same reason that Ace did?
I'd imagine the WG would stop at nothing to take him out if they knew the son of Xebec was roaming the seas

Teach used the last name of his mother or he created a fake name to hid himself from the WG and he joined the crew of Whitebeard, the crewmate of his father. He waited years in the shadow and during this years he left a scar to Shanks. He killed Tach and stole his fruit and all the Impel Down+ Marineford plans+ his moves on the New World. His goal is the world.
