Probably this is the case. People are too focused on "Rookie Xebec killing an Admiral" without looking at the context.

"Rookie Xebec killing Admiral" is paralleling "Yami, no Yonko yet, pre TS Teach killing Whitebeard and got his Gura Gura no Mi". But the difference we know what actually happened in Marineford and Teach just landed the final blow on dying Whitebeard.

Well his crew just arrived on Elbaf, lol.

But it´s clear Oda is portraying Shiki as a major member of the Rocks pirates. Rocks, who mysteriously died years ago. He could have kept Shiki as a mere mention pre ts, but decided to actually put him in the canon story. I have no reason to think he won´t appear in the current timeline
