The only one who can beat me is me
Things people do to discard Mihawk.
:pepecopium:
First Roger wasn't a swordsman.
And now Xebec when explicitly stated to be using a unique swordsmanship.
It's another Roger case.
All 3 are swordsman. Roger isn't weaker than Mihawk because he didn't forge a black blade, I don't believe that at all because Oda has never treated Mihawk with the grace required for someone of that stature, we saw it with Oldbeard, Roger speaks for himself, and now we are seeing it with Xebec. This is where Mihawk's title as the strongest swordsman comes in, he took swordsmanship to the apex. Only Ryuma has done this before him. Black blade is not a sign of a superior combatant but a superior swordsman. It is this until further notice.

" World strongest Swordsman ".
Black blade is peak of swordsmanship.
None of them reached it. Except ryuma centuries ago.

But it's kinda pointless , there's no universe you will ever accept Mihawk being stronger than them.

What could his other fighting style be? Kickboxing?

I mean he only has one arm

Oh right I forgot about the flintlock that he's never used onscreen. I'm sure that's what he uses in serious battles instead of the sword he's whipped out for every confrontation in the series!
Idk if I can find it again but there was an older theory that shanks has a flintlock where his left arm should be that he uses like Neko.

I mean I don't disagree with this either

This is usually the major point of contention I have with Zoro/Mihawk fans about him

Narrative puts him over Shanks with little to nothing that can really dispute that

But Oda hasn't handled him very well when it comes to showcasing how strong he is relative to other characters. Like you can say the Vista thing isn't a big deal (and it isn't) but admittedly it feels like a blow to his portrayal

I can't imagine in my wildest dreams Marco saying "aye Vista go handle Xebec"

But Marineford is a clusterfuck narrative, portrayal, and feat wise when it comes to powerscaling so I let it slide
Even post-ts it ain't that good. WG/Marine threw him away like trash when they could have made an exception for a guy people claim to be the strongest in the verse. Left his home because of fodder marines, same marine that will avoid a war with a yonko.
Got the same narrative relevance as Crocodile (defeated pre-ts villain) in Cross Guild.
The saving grace is that Mihawk obviously hasn't come anywhere close from having went all out, but when you compare with Shanks who literally got called "the child of destiny" a few chapters ago, it's not surprise will debate against Mihawk > Shanks when it has never been explictly stated that Mihawk actually defeated Shanks in a fight.
