As for the Shanks comparison or even any other elevated top-tier, Mihawk just doesn’t pass the eye test. Oda clearly doesn‘t care about Mihawk but he does care about Zoro — and that’s the meat of the argument. Tough call which direction he’ll go with this tbh. I mean I like Mihawk too, his design in particular is topnotch but Oda just doesn’t give him anything lol.

Mihawk is there for Zoro which is important but all these other characters just bigger for the overall story line .
Nothing wrong with that but it is what it is when it comes to knowing how important he will be over all.

Zoro will gain the WSS title but he may still struggle with a character after that, maybe the bald horse. King fight opened up the floodgates to weaker swordsman =/= weaker overall.

The main point is that his final battle must be against someone who, even if he is weaker than Xebec, defeating him will mean that Zoro is stronger than any swordsman.

Mihawk aside none of the rest fits the criteria, at least for now.
