What could his other fighting style be? Kickboxing?

I mean he only has one arm

Oh right I forgot about the flintlock that he's never used onscreen. I'm sure that's what he uses in serious battles instead of the sword he's whipped out for every confrontation in the series!

haki electrocution

Yeah but don't you eventually say "you're just a dumbass I'm not wasting my time anymore" and walk away

For open ended debates that could maybe be argued in various ways I get it

But here it's an open and shut case. Mihawk > Shanks regardless of how big or small the gap may be

Why waste time arguing with people that don't wanna read what's put in front of them
Maybe if Oda didn't treat Mihawk like dogshit there would be no discussion.

I think Xebec having a black blade really would have helped Mihawk's case. Without it you can argue this is just another Roger, where Mihawk is more of a purist and managed to turn his blade black for reasons we do not know yet. I doubt the intention here is Xebec and Roger are weaker than Mihawk overall, rather Mihawk is a stronger swordsman than them. It's also why I believe Greenbull probably didn't forge his blade black, it makes no sense but again Kuzan having Garp's raw punching power wouldn't have made sense either prior to the reveal.

This is arguably greatest feat pre-time skip @ZenZu @Welkin
It's crazy that back then this was a monumental feat and in Egghead we then had people like Nusjuro cutting a whole island in half casually
Obviously Nusjuro < Mihawk (extreme diff tho) but the fact that cutting huge things like that is actually just the norm for top/god tiers now is insane

I mean I don't disagree with this either

This is usually the major point of contention I have with Zoro/Mihawk fans about him

Narrative puts him over Shanks with little to nothing that can really dispute that

But Oda hasn't handled him very well when it comes to showcasing how strong he is relative to other characters. Like you can say the Vista thing isn't a big deal (and it isn't) but admittedly it feels like a blow to his portrayal

I can't imagine in my wildest dreams Marco saying "aye Vista go handle Xebec"

But Marineford is a clusterfuck narrative, portrayal, and feat wise when it comes to powerscaling so I let it slide

It is abundantly clear WSSM = the man with the greatest sword skill, not the strongest man who happens to use a sword.

We know the latter isn’t an accurate interpretation of the title because there are a whole host of powerful swordsmen Mihawk has never defeated. He never defeated prime Shanks, Big Mom, or Fujitora. He didn’t defeat any of the big old legends either.

Whomever Mihawk did defeat, if he defeated anyone, they evidently aren’t that important. Else we would have heard of them by now.

we also know WSSM isnt the strongest man with a sword because Roger and Xebec didn’t have the title, despite being confirmed swordsmen and the peak of their eras.

Well, after these spoilers, it's clear that: XEBEC is the strongest character in the series, so far... THE GUY LITERALLY GOT INTO A TROUBLE, GOT SCREWED UP, stole a ship, captured a Tenryuubito ship, killed an admiral and ESCAPED. THE GUY IS AMAZING.

Things people do to discard Mihawk.
:pepecopium:
First Roger wasn't a swordsman.
And now Xebec when explicitly stated to be using a unique swordsmanship.
It's another Roger case.
