wasnt it "first foe and perhaps greatest rival" or something like that? And don't forget the rivalry between Roger and WB is a more friendly one. There is no doubt imo that Xebec had been the strongest pirate and stronger than Roger until God Valley but that's where Roger surpassed him and become the greatest pirate. If Oda comes up with something else basicially Roger would be a fraud.

I think the problem is people thinking Roger being the greatest means he has to be the strongest.

Mihawk himself stated that the greatest power on the sea is the ability to get others to fight for you. I’m sure Roger could do that as well. Having the marines and HKs all fighting with him against Rox pirates would showcase that.

That second dream of Luffy definitely holds more weight than being PK. It definitely goes beyond being PK.

And, it can't be just coincidence that after Luffy said that, we find out BB dream is to get the World and Xebec wanted "The world" after warning IMU

@Blackbeard @Jailer with all this hype for Xebec, I feel we aren't ready for massive hype for BB.

BB is the only character who directly has ties with multiple big shots.

1) Xebec - his son

2) WB - BB is based on real life pirate "Edward Teach"

3) Roger and WB - both entrusted their will on Ace to be next PK, but BB destroyed their legacy by capturing Ace which eventually led to his execution and then stealing everything from WB.

4) Davy Jones - BB's ability to suck and negate df is direct nod for Davy Jones locker - inescapable abyss

5) Garp - BB not only captured Ace whom Garp raised as his own grandson, but BB is anti-thesis of Garp's biological grandson as well. His crew even took Garp down.

6) Shanks - BB is the only character to give permanent scar to the child of destiny.

7) IMU - BB is the only antagonist who is marked by IMU (other 3 are clearly good characters - Luffy, vivi and Shirahoshi)

@ZenZu these Roger/rox attacks seem like a waste of time compared to actual cuts.

Using blunt-force attacks with a sword is kinda dumb.
Why not use a hammer/club or any weapon suited for blunt force?

Question: oda made it clear the only reason Whitebeard didn’t become the PK is because he didn’t want to. So if Whitebeard just decide he wanted to would he suddenly have grown much stronger?

Roger COC coated attack looked like ass compared to Shiryu hardened stab

BB didn't just destroy WB's hopes on Ace, he also ruined everything WB worked towards by destroying and dismantling WB's crew and fleet during the timeskip and making it so that the territories WB held now had no protection or moved under another Emperor.
The only thing BB didn't do yet is razing Sphinx Island to the ground.
Truly the best pirate in this story.
