- Let Ace get murdered right in front of Luffy
- Had Usopp get literal abandonment issues from his father
- Had Sanji starve for 3 months and Zeff ate his leg
- Had Robin experience genocide
- Had Nami watch her adoptive mother get murdered right in front of her
- Had Chopper live a lie and poison his father out of love from said father
- Had Brook lose everyone from poison, buried all of his crewmates and wanter a ship for 50 years
- Had Fishmen deal with actual racism
- Had characters who went through slavery
- Had Law's entire family be murdered due to illness
- Had Big Mom eat a bunch of children
- Boiled fucking Oden alive
- Had Bonney be an absolute byproduct of rape
- Had Kuma turn into a cyborg to save his daughter
- Had Loki straight up get called ugly by his mother at birth

Like....i could keep going. One Piece might present itself as lighthearted but conceptually its actually really fucked up lol.

And I still felt nothing brah...Actually there are only few instance which made me feel sad...
One of them is in Fishmen Island.

Biggest flaw of One Piece is that it doesn’t take itself seriously enough for the topics it wants to cover.

You have morally (dark) gray dystopia with very few actual “good” characters, and while a genocide is happening…. we are having a gooner battle…

I know I'm gonna sound like one of his devoted glazers here but I think he's just afraid of people turning away from the manga if it gets too grim.

It's a tone issue. Are we supposed to sympathize with Ginny but also root for everyone who's acting like an animal toward Shakky? I get that he often shows both sides as somewhat sympathetic, but the tone issue this time is very glaring. Wano also had some of this going on.

Loving Dragon in the flashback so far tbh

Shaping up to be one of my favorite characters now that Oda's taking the time to flesh him out

Hopefully we start to see more of present day Dragon during/after Elbaf

I know a lot of people meme the whole "looking East" thing but now that we're in the final saga Oda isn't holding back with any of the major players

We went from getting Shanks crumbs across hundreds of chapters to getting basically half of his story in Elbaf alone

Seems clear that he'll be one of the most important characters within the next arc or 2

The key difference is with Shakky it's mainly adoration and lust but we know non of them would ever do anything to harm Shakky but with Ginny its already been an established precedent that the celestials are nothing but vile swamp fucks who only see women as objects for pleasure not as people who should be admired

I have a theory which @EmperorKinyagi might like .

I think Dragon served for another 5-6 years post God Valley and called quits to create freedom fighters when he meet Ivankov .

He gathered potential marine recruits and Akainu initially wanted to join but for some reason their was ideological conflicts with how Dragon viewed Pirates maybe Akainu hates Pirates from his past .

Akainu created Sword to counter Dragon ‘s fallen justice i feel he viewed Dragon’s lost justice is misplaced .

After Garling promotion to Elder, I think only Sommers, Gunko and the black-haired woman next to Garling are still Holy Knights today.
With Shamrock taking his father's position, Killingham taking his mother's position (if that one really is..) and the 3 I mentioned before, we would know 5 of the current Holy Knight by looks (4 by name, since the black-haired woman is still unknown) leaving about 4-7 Holy Knights to be revealed. Maybe the one with the skull mask could still be around today too...

This is just a theory of mine.
