Why do the Marines keep Akainu behind a desk?
Haki blooms from strong fights. No way the Gorosei don't know this. Rayleigh told us this straight up (I'm gonna keep quoting this panel through God Valley LOL):

Kaido wanted to make Joy Boy: why did Kaido keep letting Luffy live? Because, Shanks told Kaido: "Hey, Ace isn't going to be the King: Luffy will be the King of the Pirates." Kaido hates Shanks, but knows he knows his shit, so Kaido kept an eye on Luffy.
Luffy reached Gear 5 because he kept throwing himself into Kaido with his Haki, until he could surpass him with Bajrang Gun (BTW, I think Luffy beat Kaido using the "Will" of Wano, like a Spirit Bomb, and that Luffy vs Kaido in a 1v1 on a random island with no interference ends in a blown tire). Kaido was training him.
The Gorosei FEAR Akainu, and are keeping him behind a desk, because the Admirals challenging Yonkou means the Admirals Haki can Bloom beyond the God's Knights/Gorosei.
What's going to move him from the desk?
Kuzan froze Hibari in Hachinosu for a reason; Hibari is Akainu's weakness. Sakazuki was very candid and solemn when fighting Kuma in the Holy Land, because he is also a father who would do anything for his child. Akainu will be Garps' foil; Garp refused to bend his Justice for Ace, but, when Hibari's threatened, Akainu will do anything to save her.
Wherever Hibari goes next, is where we're going to see Magma-Man overcome the bureaucracy of the WG and choose his own Justice.
Finally... since Haki blooms from extreme use in battle...
We haven't seen anywhere near Borsalino's peak yet. He was fighting evenly with Gear 5 Luffy... Kizaru's Haki Bloom is about to blind people.
I need to go back and re-read everything Rayleigh and Don Chinjao said about Haki, shit.

Shes gonna be fine. Oda made sure to include Primebeard in the scram trio to show that the escape is tied to goals and not strength related. Thats how protected she is 
But Oda didn't have WBs attack get negged by Garp
And at least Kaido was wanting to fight Garp
Only BM looks bad out of the equation because she attacked and it wasn't effective and then she ran away
I just don't want Sommers to be Zoros opponent after the flashback ends. The guy is definition of jobber, his only good thing is his regen and the counter will be given eventually.
If ACoC is the only counter then there are three HKs, Gunko, Sommers and Killingham and three ACoC users Luffy, Zoro and Loki. And I hope none of the three have to fight this bum, maybe Luffy gets him as the Blueno fight.

Sanji’s Gorosei matchup being Ju Peter is now a running joke among the fandom… but actually think about that for a second
If you asked a chunk of OP readers 5-10 years ago where Sanji would end up EOS the answers would be like night and day compared to now
And it isn’t just Sanji either. Luffy went from peaking just above Roger/WB (5.6B) to potentially being on a tier above PK characters. Even someone like Law (assuming he lives to see EOS) is looking like he’ll be on par with some of the strongest pirates to ever live despite only wanting to find the truth of the Void
The introduction of Imu and a new “ceiling” for the OP verse really changed everything
As the ceiling was raised everyone else’s potential was raised with it
