Yep, either Chinjao is way under appreciated or Oda is being inconsistent. The protector of the complete marines took intense training to just shrink Chinjao’s head.

I'm pretty sure the future Roger flashback will flesh out Xebec and their relation, same as this one fleshed out Kaido and co.

Garp cared too, and it looks like the three of them had a backstory. Roger offered Garp to join him... If they had been successful in turning Xebec back, he would have offered him too I'm sure.

Roger's flashback will be one of the last and one of the longest I think.

I think there is...

Textually : Why did he want to turn the world upside down ? What did he know about the world before god valley ? And after ? Who was Rouge ? What was the dream he shared with Luffy ? Did he inherit Joyboy's will ?

Metatextually : Oden's flashback was the first time we saw Roger for an extended time, and Oda had to hide a lot. This time, he showed more but still not the whole picture... He showed Roger begging, he showed him simping, he needs to show him adventuring and winning. This flashback will show us Joyboy but just a tease. And then we'll get Joyboy's flashback to tie it all. (And another one for Luffy I guess...)
