I believe the message Oda wants to send through this backstory was "over relying on one thing is bad". And that Harald should've balanced between a peaceful route and military might.

The chapter subtly hinted that Ida actually was a little concerned about Harald going overboard with his peaceful route:

And In the very same chapter Saul also further showed this doubt:

I wouldn't really consider Harald a "bad" character. He is bad in the sense of choosing bad choices, but he served his central role in this backstory as a scapegoat so that readers can realize there's absolutely no way to "coexist" with the World Government if not a literal slave, setting the endgame war to take it down.

Throughout 800 years all Elbaph's kings were probably ruthless warriors, then Harald came and changed it but leaned too much towards the opposite side of power.

@Elder Lee Hung All in all? Loki will be the first Elbaph king ever to rule with a balance of peace and power.

Yep here its better than loden situation at least some characters beside him gave him critical thoughts.

Agree now this shows at least oda is writing it like oden story . Its better here .

But regarding harald it make it worse
Cuz he received warning but he didn't listen or even re think about it .

Aye, this sounds good to me. Harald is probably one of Oda's better written characters in recent times. When you've heard me say that I dislike him, I dislike him as a person, not as a character. As a character he is pretty engaging. Lol.

He isn't badly written, he's just extremely difficult to like.

Harald this chapter:

Great chapter though, glad we're finally getting an answer for Harald's death and the abyss circle in the castle.

The art was stunning this chapter, silence can speak much more loudly than words too. Those panels of Ida's death scene and Imu threatening Harald really stood out to be especially but the chapter was drawn amazingly as a whole.

Ida dying when it was snowing, her and Harald wishing to travel again, him wanting to marry her for years but cockblocked by the asshole, purist elders, Ida always seeing Loki as her son, Lokis immense tragedies, burdens and so on, tears man.

The sad thing is too, I think lola and Loki would have gotten along under different circumstances and had a beauty and the beast type romance. Or if he met chiffon instead.
But he has Mosa now, whether they are Shirahoshi or not too. She is the perfect match for him personality wise to befriend him and such.
I'm a Nami x Loki shipper, who believes Loki will get with Shirahoshi because Oda/One Piece is fucking crazy.

BUT.

I REALLY LOVE the idea of Lola making a harem, and Loki still marrying her down the line. Would be super funny.

Lola: "Hey, Loki. I feel awful, about the whole arranged marriage. I thought you were a bad guy, but, I guess I was wrong. My fault, for listening to rumors, rather than getting to know you more. You've got really cool eyes, and I love how kind you are to animals. Wanna get married?"

Loki: "...WAIT, REALLY??? JUST LIKE THAT???"

Nami: "Ugh... Loki... she's just kind of like this... Even when she was a Zombie Warthog..."

Loki: "ZOMBIE WARTHOG??? THAT'S MY FETISH!!!"

Nami: "NANI???"

Lola: "Ohhhhhhhhhhhh myyyyyyyyyyyyyy, he wants me on all fours."

Loki: "I can be your Timone, Lola."

Nami: "And for this reason, I am out."

Lola's new Cover Story: "Oh, My Harem!"

I feel like if the Elbaf elders let Harald marry Ida things would’ve ended very different for him.

The snowy atmosphere of Elbaf added a powerful contrast to the rising tension in the story. Character moments felt deeper than ever, making the chapter both heartfelt and impactful. The pacing was perfect balancing action, lore, and emotions in true Oda fashion. Overall, a chapter that leaves you excited and curious for what’s coming next.

One Piece good guys really operate on a level of brainlessness we can hardly fathom.
Either Oda is telling us good guys are morons and that good actions always come with a price, the road to hell is paved with good intentions, etc...

Or he just doesn't give a shit anymore and doesn't have the time to come up with something better and we should just accept this level of unawereness and idiocy from Harald.
