Harald is the peace-seeking idealist, who wants to suck up to a foreign force by completely bending over to their rules - he gets mocked, exploited and squashed by Imu in the end (you can loosely compare this with left wing tendencies in the real world).

Oda actually kinda destroyed Roger for me, it's hard to pinpoint what exactly did that, but overall I am not that interested in Roger's character anymore.

Can we stop sayin that characters got "ruined"? Nothing has been "ruined". Oda simply completed the story of Roger and Whitebeard, so you will have little to nothing to learn more now. The rest relies on other characters.
