Either Oda is telling us good guys are morons and that good actions always come with a price, the road to hell is paved with good intentions, etc...
Or he just doesn't give a shit anymore and doesn't have the time to come up with something better and we should just accept this level of unawereness and idiocy from Harald.
Oda has actually done this very nicely with Rocks and Harald (and I've criticized his writing often lately).
Oda shows that (political) extremes only lead to a quick and ugly downfall.
Rocks is the aggressive conqueror type, who wants to become king of the world by taking over with force - he gets squashed by Imu in the end (you can loosely compare this with right wing tendencies in the real world)
Harald is the peace-seeking idealist, who wants to suck up to a foreign force by completely bending over to their rules - he gets mocked, exploited and squashed by Imu in the end (you can loosely compare this with left wing tendencies in the real world).
Two ends of the spectrum that lead to the same ugly results.
