This is what I think too. Also the chapter is called Omen with the kanji for "demon aura/energy/spirit" pick what you want. It's normal that Gyaban feels uneasiness from that type of energy.

He is not speaking about strenght, it's just something he never felt.

What if imu has reality warping powers related to eyes?

Surely both the wings having their eyes malfunction in the same chapter cannot be a coincidence? Oda setting up something big

If it was Devil fruit ability, it was understandable haki could undo it.
