Yep, Kaido specifically state that he sobered up at the end of the chapter. Maybe he wouldn't even have gotten touched if he was sober. Remember how he was getting pummeled when drunk and instantly one shotted him once sober

Pretty much, but still little bit weaker cuz the fight between Zoro and Mihawk should be thugh for Zoro. We are very close to the end of the story only few arcs are left, Big Mom and Kaido are going down in this arc they even promote the ending of the story.
Wano is the land of the Samurais, the place where the swordsmanship was born, it's quite logical that Zoro should live Wano being ready to face Mihawk. The fight between Zoro and Mihawk will happen soon after Wano arc since Luffy said that "not having the WSS in pirate King's crew would be shame" or samthing on those lines, so don't quote me on that. Strowhats will be a full fledged Yonko crew with Luffy coming out of Wano as strong as Yonko, Zoro coming out of Wano as Strong as YC1 and almost as strong as Mihawk, Sanji coming out of Wano as strong as YC2/YC1, and Jinbe is already YC3.

Mihawk is the person Zoro wants to beat and surpass. Zoro is currently working to become stronger then Oden who couldn't even create a black blade.

It's a one-shot in a long prolonged battle
Cracker real body got oneshotted
The battle was extreme diff but Cracker himself couldn't tank G4 attack like his clones.

I think it is important to build up a villain.

Let's take Doflamingo for example. He was never shown to be a monstrous person. Even before his swan song, he got played by Kuzan. But Oda slowly developed him into a threat through action and not hype. He made Doffy beat Oars Jr. easily, make fun of Jozu, kick Smoker like nothing, withstand three-way fight with an Admiral smiling and with every fight, we realized that Doffy is a formidable enemy. He was never hyped beyond few one-liners.

Now apply the same to Kaido. Forget all the hype. Then we see him withstanding a fall from 10,000 meters, thrashing 3 SNs, thrashing Luffy, matching BM, beating(?) Oden and we would all accept Kaido as this beast that we know he is. But Oda decided to hype him instead. If Oda never resorted to hype, then we wouldn't be having this issue. Kaido's action would speak louder than words but now his actions fail to match the words Oda attached to him.
