Shanks can easily go 1v1 against Kaido. This arc has shown that Kaido is susceptible to sword attacks especially in Dragon form, not just from Oden but Scabbard level characters like Kinemon, so imagine Shanks whose skill and haki level is higher than Oden even most likely.

ofc Kaido's hybrid form is > dragon form, but Shanks whose skill and ability is based on speed, haki and swordsmanship shouldn't have a problem with hybrid either.

Dragon form still has its perks anyway, since it gives you environmental advantage.
